Western Buckeye League 2011

What's everyone's thoughts on how the WBL will shape out this year? I'm sure Kenton will most likely be the favorite to win the Conference again... Can Elida repeat what they did last year and challenge them for the WBL crown? Who are some key players to watch, Well besides Maty Mauk and I kinda hope (being a homer) that Reggie McAdams can repeat his All-Ohio performance from last year....

    Comments?

osu....I know everyone and their brother are predicting Kenton to take the crown this year, but I am not so sure. If Kenton does not find someone to step up and take the position Max Morrison held, they could struggle somewhat this year. Receiving corps is thin so far this year. I know a lot can happen between now and the end of the season but until they have new receivers step up to the challenge, I can see Kenton getting a slow start out of gate.
Elida, I think should compete for the crown along with Wapak and maybe OG

Kenton will win this conference running away.

The question is this though....will they get into another bench clearing brawl during the reguler season (like against North Union in the preseason) and force the refs to stop the game.

Detroit Henry Ford wasn't very good... I swear they had more penalties than they had 1st Downs.... Less than a minute to go DHF had a 1st & 46 situation haha... Reggie McAdams was 20 of 29 for 263 and 5TD's tonight in a 45-6 win

Crazy that Elida couldn't find a school to play around the area or hell in the Toledo area.

Wapak should be right at the top of the WBL with Kenton and Elida. Had a big win over Bellfontaine last night 48-0 I believe.

Kenton is pretty good. MM isnt nearly as good as his brother is though. They throw 95% of their passes of bubble screens and pop passes to their WR's. Rarely is the ball thrown more than 5 yards downfield.

MM is pretty much unstoppable and it will take a mammoth effort, and probably a slow track, to stop Kenton in the WBL

Mauk was 32-38 last night. 1 TD pass.

He threw for only 181 yards so he averaged under 6 yards a completion. He did rush for 190 yards as well.

CW QB was 21-37 for 257 yardsw ith 2 TD and 2 INT. The last INT was on 4th and long I believe to end the game.

scores. Through the air, he was 32 of 38 for 181 yards and one touchdown pass.

There was two people behind us who commented, and I concur that "if ya didnt know who was supposed to be the big time passing QB ya would think it was the CW kid".

Mauk is def a talent. He is their whole team pretty much. WIth all their bubble screens, swing passes etc it doesnt really do that much to show how good of a true QB he can be with throwing the ball downfield. A QB's bread and butter is being able to complete those midrange passes at will. Their game plan got them a win, but if they would allow him to throw the ball and use that cannon arm i think they would be much better.

Guess I need to come back here and say I was wrong...I never thought Kenton would be in the game with Coldwater let alone win it. My earlier post was derived from conversations I have had with some Kenton fans after the summer 7 on 7's season and I think it was after the 1st scrimage. Those fans did not give Kenton much of a chance against Coldwater and/or winning the WBL this season.....
