Wildcats Dominate second half win 29-9 could of scored more, kneed it.
  • Ohio
Cats basic offense tonight showing nothing for girard. Jeffersons only score came off a bad call on a 4th and 1 overall decent game

Kunzer led the Cats with 86 yards rushing and 3 TDs. He also had an interception.

Kimbrough threw for 84 yards and a TD. He also had 57 yards rushing.

Pollifrone and Stewart each chipped in with a few nice carries too.

Duchek caught a 39 yard TD from Kimbrough on a 4th and long right before halftime.

No turnovers by the Cats tonight.

The defense needs to wrap up... way too many attempted arm tackles. Other than that, a good effort by the D.

    Off to Girard next Friday.

Great game Cats. First win down many more to go. Although next week might be tougher then i originally thought!! i would have gave to struthers yesterday. It look as if Girard might be for real beating down Akron! Akron is most of the time a very good team! That was the team that knocked Campbell out second round. That team was very young last year for a playoff team. But i think getting week one will help in week two... Again Good win Cats...

i was expecting a lil more from struthers against a weak jefferson team...

Jefferson will win some games this year. We can't all beat up on Mineral Ridge in Week 1. :P

They moved the ball pretty well throughout the game. They had a couple drives stall inside JA's 20. My three main concerns coming away from this are...

    1. The injury to Maillis.

    2. The defense. They had the play stopped a number of times behind the line of scrimmage, and they let the ball carrier get away and pick up positive yards, or a first down. That's how JA got their TD. The play was dead in the backfield, the QB eluded 3 defenders and found roomm to run for the TD. The defense played well, but they need to finish plays. Girard will kill them if they can't tackle.

    3. Penalties.

    Bright spots...

    1. No turnovers. Tommy made good decisions when he dropped back to pass. If the deep ball wasn't there, he didn't try to force it and he checked it down to a RB in the flat.

    2. The power running game worked well, even with Maillis going down. Pollifrone stepped in at FB and the offense didn't miss a beat.

    3. The defense pitched a shutout in the 2nd half. The linebackers did a solid job. The secondary was sharp too. The defensive line still needs to work out some kinks, but they did buckle down in the final 48 minutes.

Mark my words, not having mallis will hurt this team a lot.

Ohio said he has a torn MCL and maybe a torn ACL, but that he may only miss 4 games. I have to believe that if he tore his MCL and ACL, he'll be out for an extended period of time, if not the whole season. hopefully it isn't too bad, and he'll be ok to go in time for the second half of the year. I really feel for him if he can't come back.

Struthers is a good team with a very good "old school" coach... Met him personally and he knows his stuff. Look for Struthers to reload and move toward the goal... Best of wishes for the injured player...
