Austintown Fitch 2011

Anyone catch the scrimmage with Mentor? How did the Falcons look?
  • Gardens35
Some Big Heads may have gotten downsized a bit last night. Not a bad thing.
  • rmolin73
Gardens35 that seems to be going around these days. I hear the Falcons couldn't stop Mentor's spread offense.
  • Gardens35
    Yes and Yes.

    End of Rant.

When expectations are low, it is always good to have success in the first test. When expectations are high, it is even better to struggle in the first test. Refocus and G.I.D.!!
  • rmolin73
Falcons35 I like that wish your Falcons the best.

The spread offens is tuff to defend at the HS level . Ask Big Red about Dover last year . They passed all over Big Red . Big Red got mad and kept blitzing and kept getting burned . If you have a good QB and recievers the spread can be deadly ..... Better have some very good DB's
  • rmolin73
Thinthick to add onto what you just said. Your defense needs to be disciplined if your linebacker's and DB's break coverage you will be toast. On rivals it showed that the scrimmage was 28-7 offense wins games but defense wins championships. Fitch fans had better worry.

    Buchtel Scrimmage.

Wasn't there.....was told "big improvement". Fitch 3 scores to zero.

    Looking forward to Friday's game.

Good luck to the Falcons of A-Town!!!!
  • Ohio
They should get it done against a young raider team.
  • Falcons53
I will be in Warren for the Friday/Saturday twin bill. Go Falcons! Go Eagles!

I'm going to try to be at both games as well Falcons, but gonna be rooting for Warren in both. Definitely looking fwd to seeing this year's Fitch talent tho as well.

14-0 Fitch. Middle of the 3rd.
  • Gardens35
    Final 28-7 Fitch.

Harding played on the short field all of the 1st and the majority of the 2nd quarters but came up empty every time. Fitch put together a quick 70 yards or so drive to go up7-0 at half.

3rd quarter was all Fitch on the short field.

Not a whole lot going on for most of the 4th.

RB#28 for Harding is one to watch!

Fitch defense played an A+ game, 5 turnovers.

Week 2, Home against Poland (1-0).
  • Ohio
Fitch should get this done. Too many weapons
  • Gardens35
Agree Ohio. I saw Fitch and Harding, and watched the TV replay of the Poland-Hubbard game. I'll be surprised if this isn't very similar to last year's game.....maybe a little worse.

Fitch looked very sluggish early. A few plays break differently and WGH would have been up 14-0 early. There was a ton of talent on that field. I think both teams will win enough games to play in week 11. The RB for Harding is a stud and their defense is very quick. Fitch only had success running straight ahead. There was no getting to the edge. The long run that the backup RB for Fitch had was a straight ahead run with a great cutback.

I would not put much stock into that game. All the good 10th, and 11th graders are playing on the varsity.

    Fitch 21
    Poland 3
    Final

Poland played a real good game. No doubt well prepared.

Fitch needs to get real better, and real quick. Unfortunately, they've got a SHAM game next week, then on to Canton McKinley.
