Thursday night openers...

BTrevWhich Thursday night opener will you go to this year?
I'll likely be at the Poland-Hubbard game. -
OhioBenn good but boring games the last couple years.... Poland should run away with this one early with all of the talent that hubbard lost from last season.

I agree with you. I have family in Poland though, and I kinda want to get a sense of who Hubbard will feature this year.
They do return three starters on the offensive line, but I think that's it on O. On D, they have a pretty good LB coming back. I don't think they have nearly enough firepower to threaten Poland out of the gate though.
Poland should control this one from start to finish. I don't think it'll get too out of hand, but I have them by 2-3 TDs. I see Hubbard struggling to move the ball, due to their inexperience at the skill positions. They'll probably be in bad field position for the majority of the game too.
Still, it should be a good game to kick off the season with. -

In an interview, Kopachy said they'll have to have a balanced attack (meaning, I suppose, that they don't have a superstar this year), and that the experienced players will all have to step up to fill in the void. He wants to limit opponents to an average of ten points a game this year instead of twenty a game (sounds like an emphasis on defense instead of trying to outscore opponents like they did the previous two years). The quarterback situation is one where two guys are fighting for the job (juniors?). In the interview he said that there is a possibility that both will get a lot of playing time at QB. Marcus Crittendon will also play defense this year; he's a quick player that ran track and was mainly on offense as a freshman last year. Hopefully his brother will also play. Experienced running back returning, but he is not a real big back size-wise but has a few moves. Two experienced and excellent receivers with some speed (Penick, Kenreigh) will be back. I believe there are seven experienced players back on both sides of the line. Overall, you're probably going to see a different style this year, maybe ball control, considering the fact that they lost three all staters in the last two years; Eisel, Toothman, and a beast of a lineman in Mike King who was an extremely important part of their recent success. To sum up, as Kopachy said, everbody will have to step up and contribute. It will definitely have to be a team effort this year. The first game against LaBrae is one against an experienced, Bill Bohren coached team. A lot of questions will be answered that Thursday night. -

I assume this was the interview, but even if it wasn't I'm sure he's telling all media outlets pretty much the same thing. 7:00 or so long video on the link for anyone interested.

Went to that game last year and man were the Morgantown fans bad sports. They felt they should have won. Lots of laughs.
