Steubenville Catholic Central 2010

Last year's team was not playoff caliber. Last years team was Bednar. Kind of like Spence for Buckeye , but buckeye had more weapons , Central did not. Now that freshman team that are seniors now I mean will be this football season was horrible in every sport. It is just the way cycles happen sometimes, but the bad point is all the central people that make the donations and decisions (it is more of a private school than catholic school anymore) will want Greg Bahen's head at the end of the year, mark my words .
They turned on him last year. Central will lose their first three games.

LMAO........they were a one man show? Get a freaking clue! That team was loaded with talent and it wasn't used properly. We had one of the best WR's in the Valley, we had one of the fastest kids in the Valley, a great RB and a QB who was underutilized. Coach Bahen needs to look at our offensive philosophy because we can't line up and play smash mouth football anymore, we don't have the numbers! then you have the defense and I could write a novel on the poor fundamentals they used, again, Coach bahen should have taken the defense over.

And who turned on Coach Bahen? If that's the case he would have been fired. The facts are, Coach Bahen can leave on his terms, he's earned that type of respect, surely that wouldn't be the case if the powers that be "turned on him".

Any word on how the kids are progressing........potential line-up?

I have seen a few of the players this year, they are pretty small. Although Central will most likely have a down season this year, one thing you can't underestimate is the heart of a Crusader. They play a very rough schedule for their size/talent. Very unpredictable the way the season goes, but I will guess 4-6 at best. Good luck to the Crusaders.

^^^^^Unfortunately I've been hearing the same thing. May be another rough year for Crusader football.

    So rock,

What do ya what to chat about... Doesn't seem like there are many people posting.
  • rock_knutne
^^^^^Yeah, not many CCHS fans on this board. Maybe that will change the closer we get to week one.

The Crusaders will scrimmage at Buckeye Local this Friday night 7:30PM.

    Rock,
I think the Ridgewood game start time is 7:00 P.M. All of our home games start at that time, and that is what my schedule says for this one too. Would not want any of your faithful to be late.

Also, the Football Boosters are having a hog roast before this game. I believe it starts at 5:00 P.M. If any of you Crusader fans want to show up hungry and early, it is worth it. Best roast hog you will ever taste, at a reasonable price.

Thanks for the info and the invite! That sounds like a plan. BTW, how are they about tailgating out there.......you know, "koolaid" and that?:o

    This isn't old huddle.

Hey General, can we booze it up? :)

Looking forward to hearing how the Crusaders look tonight.

    GO BLUE!!!

    WTOV9 interview with Coach Bahen:

    http://www.wtov9.com/video/24222147/index.html

He makes some very good points and I wouldn't want any one else running our football program but it looks like we are going to see "three yards and a cloud of dust" yet again this year. Still say we have to be a little more dynamic with our offense.
  • rock_knutne
BTW, how'd we look tonight against BL?
  • ryan_nolan
I heard the frosh QB looked decent, but overall it was ugly for the Crusaders. 4TD's in the first 9 plays were given up.
  • killer_ewok
Sounds like a pretty rough start. Let's hope they can make some progress from last night to the opener.

    GO BLUE!!!!

Sorry guys, West Lafayette is a dry town located in a dry township. I have a feeling the local law enforcement would have a problem if you brought your own too, because all of the parking areas around the stadium are either on school or village property. I still hope you enjoy your trip to the Mayberry of Ohio.

"Dry towns" haven't stopped us before.:o Look forward to the trip.

Heard the same thing. I was told we haven't looked this bad in a long time. Who knows, we looked great in last year's scrimmages and look what happened but it may be a very long season yet again.

If you are looking for a cool place before the game at West Lafayette, about 10 miles away on route 36/16 is Raven's Glen Winery and Italian Restaurant. It would have a Coshocton address I believe. Crusader96kicks and I plan on Golfing at River Greens during the day Friday and probably hitting Ravens Glen before the game. That is the plan for now. We need to survive the OSU vs Marshall game onThursday night and get back to Newark at a reasonable time.

Since I really haven't played much Golf this Summer, Ihope the game is better than my play.

But again for all you Crusader fans plan on attending the game, Raven's Glen would be a goog place to catch a dinner and a glass of Wine before the festivities.

    General94 would you agree?
  • general94
Agree, it would be the closest for food and spirits. Actually, it is only about 4-5 miles before you get into town on RT. 36. I believe it has a West Lafayette or Fresno address. Safe travels to all.

I believe the final was 6-0 Buckeye in the scrimmage. I saw the highlights on WTOV9 and it looked pretty bad. Good Luck to you guys this year... Opening up with Bridgeport could be a stomach turner.

Our 2nd or third team scored 2-3 times but yea the defense is beyond horrible and unless people light a fire under their own butt and decide they want to HIT people, they have no one to blame but themselves at the end of the day for another disappointing year. Getting back to hitting people in the mouth does lead to W's.

Is it worth starting the players who are producing in an attempt to light that fire?
