Game of the weekend
-
CardsFlyinHighOnly two real choices here. D6 St. Paul vs St. Johns or D1 Davidson vs Glenville.
I'd have to pick the D6 game as that just seemed to be better played of the two. Great drama at the end. The D1 game had a great ending but just seemed like each team was trying to give the game away. -
newarkcatholicfanI went with the Davidson game because they were able to beat the best all-star team in the state.
-
GoChiefsNo doubt..gotta give it to Hilliard Davidson and Glenville..going for the 2 point conversion for the win instead of just kicking it and taking it into overtime. Classic game.
-
Go_Fast_SportsThe D6 game was one of the best games ever in finals history.
The D1 game was terrible. Glenville's penalties and mistakes were absolutely awful to view. HD running the ball all the time was boring. Get some play action in there and make things interesting instead of waiting 3 quarters to break a long run and wake everyone up. -

It always cracks me up when people complain about Davidson being boring.Go_Fast_Sports wrote: The D6 game was one of the best games ever in finals history.

First, I don' think they are boring.... Going for it on 4th down in key situations, going for 2 to win a state championship, etc is NOT boring.
But even if one believes it is boring, who cares? High school football is NOT played for your entertainment value! It's played for the kids, by the kids, and played to win. Be as exciting as you like and sit home Weeks 13 through 15. However, I was pretty excited to see Davidson win it's second STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Wasn't bored at all!
Why do you think a high school coach and team should run a particular offense just to entertain a bunch of adults? It's not about entertaining YOU! It's about the team and executing to win. -
cat_loverDavidson/Glenville was the best game of the weekend.
-
SonofanumpI guess I need some criteria here.
Which game had more big and exciting plays?
Which game had harder hitting?
Which game had a go ahead score with no timeouts with :05 seconds left after getting the ball on the 2 yard line after stopping the other team who had a first and goal at the 4 yard line?
HD had three great plays to end the game, but the NSP/DSJ looked like that most of the game. -
flyerfan06wish i would have saw the davidson and glenville game ill have to watch it on TV !!

Don't get me wrong, I do agree, but I almost felt as if golf claps were needed for all those 1 and 2 yard runs.FanOfCats wrote:

PicktownHSCI think both games were equally entertaining.

BigDogBoth were GREAT endings to GREAT games.
The D6 game was a better game to watch as a whole. If you didn't watch the whole thing you missed some scoring.
The D1 game I didn't tune in until almost the fourth quarter and saw it all. -

If you didn't tune in till the 4th you missed a lot of a very good game. The 2nd quarter was great even though there was no score on the board when it was over.BigDog wrote: Both were GREAT endings to GREAT games.

Both games were fun to watch and what I believe a state championship should be. -
darbypitcher22I went with Davidson based on the 2 point conversion to win it;
Up until that point though, Norwalk/Delphos was the highlight of the tournament HANDS DOWN. -
KeithI voted for the St. Paul win over DSJ.
-
SonofanumpWatched both games again. Not sure how many balls the Glenville receiver dropped that could have been large gains.
I'll still take NSP v DSJ after a second viewing. -

ArnoldBotjh games were close but NSP DSJ had the more exciting plays IMO. DSJ with two long kick returns, SP with the 73 yard td run, the goal line stand and the 93 yard drive ending with 5 seconds. SP qb reminded me of two great qb's on that drive, John Elway of course, and Bart Starr with the qb sneak to win. This game had teams taking control of their own destiny and one simply finishing a step ahead on the last play. The D1 game had more mistakes.

darbypitcher22myvette,
