Caught a couple Escambia HS games back in 84 or 85. That was something.

5A looks to be the class of the field as usual. Funny, as much as everyone whines about the private schools in Ohio...they ought to take a look at how STA operates. Now there's some recruiting for ya. ;)
  • Speedofsand
its slowly becoming a topic of discussion down here, but not an issue like Ohio at all. Talent plays talent.

Gardens35, when Emmitt was there ?
  • Gardens35
Yes, I'm pretty sure that he was a Junior when I saw the games........just don't recall the exact year.

Cocoa High coach will not play Chevelle Buie in state title game. I heard Buie skipped school, must be more to the untold story.

Glades Central is without 6'6" WR Kelvin Benjamin since mid-season because of age. The 2A rematch will still be a good game. Cocoa's defense gave up about 80 pts all year.

"You're not going to stop a guy like that," Warner Christian coach Andy Price said of Taylor, who has rushed for 2,239 yards and 30 touchdowns this season.
Though Taylor had right-knee surgery this spring and sustained a minor shoulder injury late in Glades Day's state semifinal victory against Lakeland Victory Christian last week, Gators coach Pete Walker said he isn't worried about tiring him out.
He expects Taylor to be fresher than Warner's two-pronged attack of Allen, a senior, and Dixon. Both have more than 1,400 rushing yards, but they also both play defense as well.

Weiner couldn't point to anything in particular that has helped his team reel off eight straight wins, but the Panthers have continued to lean on Wilder on both sides of the ball.
His opportunities on defense have been limited compared with last year (66 tackles and eight sacks), but he has topped 1,000 yards rushing again and scored two critical second-half touchdowns in the Panthers' win against Clearwater Countryside last week.

Lakeland has its own injury concerns, as running back Steward Butler is nursing a shoulder injury, receiver Javares McRoy is still recovering from a toe/foot injury and defensive back Kareem Givens is out for the season with a broken arm.

Warner Christian jumped out to a 21-0 lead. Glades Day tied it up to start the 4th qtr 28-28 and won 42-35. Fred Taylor's son Kelvin Taylor had 44 carries, 248 yds, 5 TDs for Glades Day. Turnovers cost Warner the game. Its Warner's 3rd straight state title game loss.

Plant/Lakeland score is surprising. I didn't think it would be that lopsided.

Wilder had 200 yards, bunch of TDs. Amazing physical player on defense and blocked a kick too. Plant's QB Phillip Ely (Bama commit) sat out but might play next week.

“That was all on us,” said Williams, who threw for 240 yards, ran for 47, went over 10,000 total offensive yards in his career and broke Aaron Murray’s single-season touchdown record with his 52nd and 53rd touchdown passes. “That was that hunger.
“We want that ring so bad,” Williams added before collapsing. “It don’t matter how you win. We want that ring. That’s all that matters. We want that ring.”
