Also, it was just the score--- the players and the fans were actually like complete d-bags in my opinion late in the game. Stay classy DSJ.

    So, what are you saying?

If you were the coach, of a team in the STATE Championship game, and winning,,,,,,, to stop playing because you are up by 50+? Tell the Sr's, hey, its only the biggest game of your life, but your winning to bad, stop playing?

What should they have done,,,,,,,, Taken a knee every play from halftime?

If the other team cant show up for a STATE Championship game, to bad.

I bet your the same person that thinks its unfair that Bill Gates has billions of more dollars than you, and should share it with everyone, too?
Same thing you are telling these kids,,,,,,,, That is not fair that they came out swinging, and the other team didnt.

I've said it on the other thread, but I'll point it out here too. In Division 4-6, the same 8 teams have absolutely dominated. Mooney, Ursuline, Delphos St. John, and Newark Catholic have 18 total state championships in those divisions (I guess, 19 now). Coldwater, Versailles, St. Henry, and Maria Stein Marion Local have 17 total state championships in those divisions. It's the same PROGRAMS every year that continue to do well and win a majority of the titles in divisions 4-6.

So go ahead and cry about how unfair it is that the privates do well in the smaller divisions. And then when you move them out...go ahead and cry about how unfair it is that the MAC does well in the smaller division. And then when you move them out, you can hand out participation certificates and juice boxes to all the teams so nobody feels bad anymore.

    Juice box, skank?

The only thing I saw wrong in this one was DSJ taking a knee with so much time on the clock.

It isn’t DSJ jobs to stop DSJ that falls on Shadyside.

The back ups should have been allowed to run their offense until the game was over.

    I was rooting for S-S

Nope, in 06, the other year shadyside made it to the state finals, they beat beallsville 71-0 in the second round of the playoffs. Beallsville and other towns seen this as running up the score. Yet, Shadyside folk thought all was good. Now it just so happens they are on the other side of the scoreboard in the state championship game (not to mention losing by the exact same amount) and are crying foul. Seems like a double-standard to me.

It might have just a match up problem and DSJ being so good this year. I posted 364 days ago that I would take DSJ and give up the field. I was looking at the teams DSJ played up to this point. They might have played 11 teams better than Shadyshide this year, I'd guess at least 9 better teams. Hopefully Shadyside takes the experience positively and realizes that they made to to the finals.

It's a shame and a disgrace how privates are allowed to play the "system".

I can't speak for those Shadyside lopsided scores because I did not see the games. This game however I did. DSJ was up 28-0 with two minutes left in the first half. It was apparent Shadyside was not able to move the ball the ball at all. DSJ called two timeouts before the half to stop the clock. When the got the ball back they took it down the field to score again before the half, 35-0. The starters remained in the game into the 4th quarter. They were still throwing the ball deep in the 3rd and early 4th quarter when they were up by 50-60 points. That is what I didn't like.

So how do you stop that? Take a knee every play? You cant tell HIGH SCHOOL KIDS TO NOT PLAY!!
  • Little Danny
They don't have to take a knee. I'm not saying give up or play half speed. I played football myself long to know you can't go half speed. What i am saying is there is no need to throw a 20 yard out pattern on 1st and 10 when you are up by 60 points late in the 3rd quarter. What I am saying is sit your starters and let the second and third stringers play starting in the middle of the 3rd when you were up by 50 and Shadyside had never crossed mid-field.

You forgot that Beallsville was also very cocky through all their wins, and leading up to that game. That's why people (other than the Blue Devils fans) were "all good" with it. They saw it as a comeuppance to Bville.
Not that I'm sticking up for Shadyside or downing Beallsville. But, if we're going to bring that game up, might as well say all of it, right?

No..this just implies that region 22 and region 24 are just that much better...........and please don't take that wrong..but if OHSAA would have matched up Region 22 against region 21, and region 24 against region 23 in the semi finals.....you would have seen a better championship game..albiet DSJ did beat Sidney Lehman Catholic 49-7 in the semi

Do you feel this language is appropriate on a HS football forum? I don't know about some of you, with the filthy language and name calling....And to think you fancy yourselves "better people".

It ain't the Shadyside fans crying about running up the score

Is this DSJ team the best D6 school ever???

All of them. They all started kindergarten at DSJ. In fact I can't think of one who doesn't have one or both parents as DSJ alums.

LOL. Hey Be Nice...is it getting harder and harder to hold onto those straws you are grasping at?
