Free Huddle Gathering For State Championships?

  • darbypitcher22
Just wondered if there will be any huddlers up this weekend for the games; I'll be there for 5 of the 6 starting with the DV game on Friday afternoon and am looking forward to meeting some Huddlers

We usually meet at BW3 in Massillon on Thursdays night around 7-8pm. We generally hang in the central bar area where as others just go and sit where they please.

Friday morning, we always met at the picnic shelter up from Paul Brown Tiger Stadium around 9am.

Saturday afternoon, we met back at that same shelter for a luncheon.

Otherwise, the guys I go with usually eat at Lobys, Falcones, or Mikey D's between games.

I'm scheduled to work the D-IV game so I'll be at that one. I'm also tentatively planning to go to D-V Friday afternoon and would like to see the D-III Friday morning if I can get my sorry butt out of bed early enough to make the drive.

I'll be at all Saturday games if theres any planned meeting.

I am going to post something about this over on the General Forum....but I will be at BW3's also on Thursday night. It is a great time to have a drink and shoot the bull about the games ahead. Go-Fast...what time do you think you will make it up there? We can be there anytime...

Not sure about the gatherings on Friday and Sat. because "they" used to rent the shelter for both days...and I doubt that has been done with all of the moving around we have done in the last month.

If people want to make suggestions for somewhere to meet at the games, before or after...let me know and we can see if we can work something out.

Maybe a general seating area, possibly the endzones since they are usually the last to fill up

How about Rooster's at Fulton and Dressler, only 2 to 3 miles from Fawcett Stadium. I started going to Rooster's at the basketball finals in Columbus, Great food!

If you are suggesting this instead of BW3's the night before...then that is a no go since that place is tradition. However if some people want to meet at Rooster's between games or whatever, that would be cool. Not sure if our group would have time for that...but others might.

You really don't have time to go to Roosters between games. It's just a bit too far out the way of both stadiums.

^^^ That was my thinking! I know we barely have time to get some fast food between games...but then again, we like to stay until the last whistle is blown and want to be at the next game before kickoff. But that is just us.

I'll be in the HOF at the officials hospitality room. If it's too cold, I'll watch the games on the wall sized screen in the room. Free food, too!

Yeah..we get it..isn't that like the 20th post you've had bragging about how you'll be in the hospitality room? :p

I never know where Im eating in between games until the last minute. It's usually drive down the strip in Massillon depending on how much time we have and what looks appetizing and not crowded at the time.
  • darbypitcher22
so there is fast food between both of the stadiums to get something really fast?

This is my first trip for States so I have no idea where I'm going.

How do you get in? Do you just flash your card from the state?
  • football71
Sonofanump, Yes. Just show your OHSAA card at the admission booth. The room is all the way in the back past the gift shop. I think it's the theatre room. Introduce yourself, I'll be wearing an old orange AFL referee cap. I'll be there all day Saturday.

In these hard times where jobs are lost and schools cant pass levies, it is comforting to know OHSAA has enough $$$ to wine and dine all of the officials in a warm theater setting!! I suppose you wont be paying to attend the game, either?
