Newark Catholic 2010 My thoughts

  • newarkcatholicfan
    I. M.O. Newark Catholic will need major improvement on defense, especially when it comes to tackling and taking the correct angle to the ball carrier.

Special teams play as far as the kicking game will need a major improvement . It all starts with the snap and I. M.O. that was the biggest issue. Replacing Nelson as the holder is another key to field goals and point after attempts.

I will guess that Csubak will do most of the kicking with Shook doing the punting.

Without sounding like I’m down grading anyone I believe Quarterback play will be a huge concern. Vernau is mobile but will he be able to throw the deep ball when asked.

I’ll guess that Weisent and Michael Lewis will start with Cormican at W. REC /TIGHT END if this is correct where will the help come from? I will venture to guess Rodgers will be IN THE RUNNING WITH CJ McCleary if the spread is going to be the feature formation.

The running game should be solid but with little speed if memory serves me right.
Britt Wilder I think will be the feature back and he could go for 1,000 yards.
Connor Shook showed a lot of promise last season.

Potts, I’m guessing should see his see his share of field time.

Vince I will guess be one of the top four backs we will see.

Others could be (not counting the soph class)
Lough, who I could be over looking by a mile.
Scott if he can stay healthy and find his way to the weight room.

Both lines will be smaller but quicker so technique will be a major component in them succeeding as a unit.

AGAIN THIS IS MY THOUGHTS AND IT IS NOT MEANT TO RUFFLE ANY FEATHERS OF CURRENT PLAYERS, COACHES, FORMER COACHES OR FORMER PLAYERS SO READ IT WITH THAT IN MIND.

I agree with the majority of your comments. I was able to see most of the games this year and always listened on the radio when I could not make it in person. Vernau does run well, not sure of his throwing. I'm sure he will get stronger over the next year. I thought Wilder was only a junior this year. Maybe he was a senior.

    My Bad Wilder is back.
    I will fix my post.

You forgot Michael Lewis and CJ McCleary(sp) at receiver. CJ got some prime playing time towards the end of the season and Michael will take the spot of Adams. Vernau threw the ball well when he got in at the games I went to. The only away game I went to was Heath and the only home game I missed was Whitehall.

I should have pulled out a roster that did not have notes I had taken all over it.

Lewis should be a big part of the offense.

Thanks for reminding me about him.

Yea Michael has great hands and is a tall big receiver.

I hope the players to be are hitting the weight room as hard as possible.
