Bellaire 2010

newarkcatholicfanWho will the coach be?
What will it take to turn this proud program around? -
CenterBHSFanNCF,
The last thing "official" that I know of is that Coach Bonar won his arbitration.
Anything else I've heard is rumors, hearsay and the like.
Whatever is going on, somebody better be making up their minds pretty quick. The boys need a HC to start implementing a system at least by Feb. when it's crunch time to hit the weight room.
To any parents of potential Bellaire football players:
STAY OUT OF IT!
We've already seen what parental interference does. HINT (it doesn't win games) -
Little DannyI'm hearing rumors UC football coach Brian Kelly is interested. I think the folks at ESPN have indicated he would walk from Cincinnati to the defunct Bellaire Bridge for the job. He was once quoted after eating a hotdog "By Golly it's a Gulla".
-

Hmmm... Coach Kelly. It has a certain ring to it, doesn't it?Little Danny wrote: I'm hearing rumors UC football coach Brian Kelly is interested. sonofsamIt will be Bonar... Unfortunate all the circumstances to lead up to this point, but it will be Bonar. Bonar deserves the position back based on everything I am aware of as well as the win in court. However, I feel bad for Jose. He has something that Bonar does not... He has total belief, heart, and passion for his alma mater... Wish the two could get along. If they did, the B8 should be scared....

Skin_ManWhen will they know for sure.
Anyone start any off season workouts for football yet? -
BigbluezoneHave not heard anything, where does everything stand with the coaching situation and are they working out for 2010 yet?
-
bloozebrotherstrong rumors have it bellaire will have pay to play next year. will any of the kids opt to open enrollment? if so which other school district will benefit?
-
CenterBHSFanYeah, I've heard those rumors too, blooze.
If it gets to that point, hopefully it won't be too awful bad. I suspect that there might be a few people to make enough donations to keep it minimal. Too many people that haven't forgot where they came from out there for it to be too expensive for the kids. -
bloozebrotheri sure hope so. too much tradition to lose. only reason i ask is because our coach was approached for info about shadyside conditioning, practice schedule etc.
-
sonofsamWow, that would suck if Bellaire has to "pay to play". I would have to think what blooze is saying would happen... Kids would transfer to Shadyside or elsewhere. Heres another question... If Bellaire goes to "pay to play" will they be able to field a team? And if so, do they remain in the B8 or drop out?

There have already been a few kids that transferred out.
BUT, I don't know if sports was the only or biggest reason. People move all the time and it's natural to want your kids in the same district that you live in.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens from here on out. -

I understand what you are saying... I know that Bellaire has had quality on the football field as well as the classroom and I am not trying to take away from that, I would have to believe that if you are a student athlete you would want to go to a school that offers both. I wish the best for Bellaire.CenterBHSFan wrote:sonofsam wrote: Wow, that would suck if Bellaire has to "pay to play". I would have to think what blooze is saying would happen... If things do not go as well as hoped, do you see continuing in the B8 or dropping out? -
CenterBHSFanSOS,
I honestly don't know what to think concerning that.
It may not be Bellaire's choice. Depending on enrollement standards, the B8 may not want Bellaire in the league. Otherwise the B8 would be something like the B10 with SCC and Shadyside added in. See what I mean? -
CenterBHSFanI meant to put this up the other day and just never got around to it.
It seems that Bellaire gets to keep Jose Davis as HC after all! (yay!)

It's the 20th article down.
This is good news for Bellaire all the way around. A HC that the kids respond well to, Davis gets to start working with the kids earlier, there is some sort of continuity.
Total win for Bellaire, IMO. -
sonofsamThats good news for Davis and Bellaire... Very happy to hear that he will remain Head Coach. Now lets hope the kids stay too.
If things don't work out though, I see Bellaire dropping out of the B8 and East Liverpool getting in. -
newarkcatholicfanI think it is good Davis is back.
I hope he and his staff can get things turned around. -
bloozebrotheralso glad to hear jose is coming back. maybe he can keep continuity going. also hope he agrees to rumble on the river jamboree game end of this summer.

I agree.newarkcatholicfan wrote: I think it is good Davis is back.

Here's what alot of people don't understand, which I know you do NCF because you've followed Bellaire football for a number of years...
Coach Davis walked in as HC totally green. What I mean by that is that he didn't walk into a system with a full retinue of supporting coaches, a system already in place, kids that he's already coached at least a year.
He walked into that job with nothing but getting a hard time from some of the other supporting coaches (that no longer coach for the fb team), a willingness to do what he could for the kids on the team and a few coaches that actually were there for the kids instead of other coaches/politics.
And he actually made more progress with the team, walking in with basically a incomplete program, and won a game and came close in other games.
(which is more than can be said for the previous coach) -
CenterBHSFanBy the way,
As a fan of Bellaire, and I know many MANY other people out there who agree with me, I think it's really cool of all the support from local and surrounding schools. Bellaire's been going through a bucket of mess for the past couple of years and I think the ship is about to be righted.
It's nice to know that fans from other schools are rooting on for the kids, even if they aren't from our district! -
Mr. 300Good luck to the Big Red.
