slingshot4everOverrated 8-2 team (somehow #1 in Region 2) finally exposed for what they are - mediocre. Thanks Medina.

Con_AlmaCongrats to Coach Laird and the Medina Bees. In his first year at Medina he has instilled a winning attitude and work effort.
He believes there is a lot of talent roaming the halls that isn't yet playing football. I hope this gives them a reason to come out and be part of a winner. -

I said this from the beginning of the year. Everyone laughed me off.
Being in the WEAK Federal League got them to the number one spot. And then the League play showed, when it came to playing 4 quarters of football. Johnson is not going to be around much longer.
Congrats to Medina on their FIRST EVER playoff win!!!! -

#1 in region one because we beat Massillon .... and we are a good football team.... cant overcome refs, and our own terrible coaching thank you very much.... no need to take shots at teams really... -

A few points on your post:
Massillon is overrated as well. They lost to Whitmer and are also out of the play offs.
Losers blame refs for the outcome of a game
Not bashing the team, bashing those that actually thought they were good -

I know you're frustrated, blowing a 21 pt. lead makes me wonder about blaming the refs though. I wouldn't call McKinley overrated, I believe that year in and year out, they have some of the best athletes in the state of Ohio, I know with that said, you would think coaching would come into play, but there is a point where the kids have to execute and make plays....you can't blame everything on the coach, I don't care who the coach is. The little bit that I did watch last night lends me to believe the McKinley kids took their foot off the Medina kids throats and Medina, to their credit, took full advantage of it.
Medina deserved the win last night, they really did, but in my opinion, if they played 10 more times, McKinley wins 9 of them. -
RoyalbuckThis does not totally apply to this post but I am going to say it anyway because it sticks in my craw everytime I hear it. OVERRATED is the worse cheer or statement in sports. I had to hear a set of students yell it Friday night. Now I won't take anything away from the team involved because their team deserved the win but to say that someone is overrated just belittles your own accomplishment. Maybe McKinley wasn't overated just like Wynford wasn't in the game I wittnessed. They just met two teams that on that night made things happen. Wynford who is very young had three turnovers for the first time all year. I know nothing about McK other then the tradition but I actually doubt the were overated. I hate that statement.

So losing a playoff game means you're overrated? Dude, get real, Massillon battled injuries all season long, was down to their third string center, which in turn put almost every lineman in a new position with the realignment. Massillon was smaller than almost every team they faced this season. They started a sophomore QB who actually didn't start his first game until week #4 I believe. The media is the one's who proclaimed Massillon and Mckinley as state title contenders....NOT MASSILLON AND McKINLEY. I'm actually EXTREMELY proud of the way the Tigers played last night, despite being outweighed at nearly every position, they fought until the very end and had themselves in a position to win.
Let's be honest here....And I know I'm going to be called arrogant for saying this, but for those of you that are familiar with skank, you'll know that I could give a rats butt, Massillon and McKinley ARE region 2....All the talk about region 2 being possibly the weakest of the 4 regions, that (usually) isn't because of Massillon and McKinley, that is in spite of the fact that those two are in the region.
So, it's about time that the rest of you start helping out and quit letting Massillon and McKinley do all the heavy lifting for the region. Let's look back at Todd Porters article several weeks back where he stated that Solon was looking for a week 3 (I believe) game next season, preferably against a Stark County team. He stated that since the Fed would be approaching league play the following week, (and we all know how tough the league is), (sarcasm), that Massillon step to the plate. Ridiculous Toddy. There will probably be more on this later. -
skankAnd related to my previous post, McKinley plays Lake in week #3, which is a league game, (to keep the Massillon McKinley game at week # 10), so that eliminates the Bulldogs from scheduling Solon. So now all you have left is the remainder of the Fed....and Massillon. My point....Don't be surprised to see Solon on Massillon's schedule next season.

Really? Show me where Massillon was RATED in ANYTHING!!
You have to be rated, to be OVER-rated. -
skankThis attitude toward Massillon and McKinley kills me. In 2004, when McKinley went 7-3 and looked very pedestrian during the regular season, then strung together 4 straight wins to reach the state title game, I didn't see anyone saying they were underrated.
Massillon last year? State Semi finals....tied with Glenville midway through the 4th at 17....No underrated comments then.
Let's be honest here....The whole region just took a HUGE sigh of relief. TWICE. -

We were good... questions whether you actually watch McKinley play ever... Massillon wasn't OVERRATED they were the 6 seed Whitmer the 3... there for how can they be overrated losing to the higher seed???.... Also refs can play a huge part in a win or loss thanks.. if you were at the game maybe you would know that.... but instead you probably cheer on some region two team that thinks McKinley and Massillon are always overrated and love to see us both lose all because we are actually good and your team isn't. -
skankI think in order to post on a HS forum, you should have to have the school you cheer for visably written under your username. I think in some cases, the embarrarment would be enough to keep some of the riff raff off of here.

My God. I have been saying this for a long time. Thank you coyotes.
People love to throw around the term , "overrated" when it just doesn't apply or the team/individual isn't even rated. -

So is Medina overrated? I mean they were down to an overrated McKinley and only won by 3. -

notice he hasnt said anything back? he realized he was wrong and that his team would never be equal to McKinley or Massillon... -
Con_Almaskank;549531 wrote:So is Medina overrated? I mean they were down to an overrated McKinley and only won by 3.
No because they weren't rated at all. They* were seeded. -

I was at the Whitmer game and the Massillon defense could not stop the very powerful Offensive line and running attack of Whitmer.Your star ,#9, could not catch the ball when it mattered most because he was scared of getting hit.The refs had nothing to do with this game as I have it on tape and the offsides you fans were calling was not as Whitmer sets up 2 yards behind the line and he never entered the neutral zone. This one play did not effect the game anyways. All you had was passing and we learned how to shut you down after the couple big scoring plays you had.Your running game was a joke.We are still in the playoffs and you are not. -

First of all this thread says Canton McKinley so maybe you should learn to read... My name on here is McKAlumni07 not Massillon anything... and since I was talking about the McKINLEY game and not the WHITMER game you should learn to read before you come at anyone.... thanks for making yourself look stupid and ignorant...maybe it is you sir that is a joke -

Where do I start with this train wreck? Massillon has had trouble stopping the run all year, so don't feel too special there cowboy. Our "star" was tearing you guys up, as was Olack, sure they had some dropped balls but who doesn't, the pro's do. Trust me, he was not afraid of getting hit, I'm quite sure Tressel feels the same way I do. I could be wrong, but I don't remember anyone on here saying the refs blew the game, watching the game on tape I'm quite sure the fellow was offsides, which would have given us a first down, but not on here or anywhere else did I say it made a difference, because I didn't. I forget the actual final numbers, but you DID NOT shut down our running game, everyone I know was screaming for Hall to run the ball there at the end, if you look at the final numbers, one could assume you stopped our running game, but you have to take into account the sacks you had on Kempt, those are negative RUSHING yards. Yes, you are still in the playoffs, and if you hadn't noticed directly after the game I congratulated you too, so there is no need to act like a penis on here.
BTW, with the size of your kids compared to the size of ours, and all this speed we heard about, you guys should have beaten us alot worse....So don't expect a long stay in the playoffs. -

He was saying that i blamed the refs in your game.... but thats because he jumped into a conversation that i was having with slingshot... and i just happened to mention the name Massillon and they assumed.. i dont know anything about the massillon game because i didnt watch it and i was at the McK game -
slingshot4everNo 8-2 team should ever be the 1 seed in a region. Not when there are other undefeated and one loss teams. Should McKinley have been in the top 8. Yeah. Overall 1 seed in the region? Absolutely not. The proved that against a Medina team that isn't all that great themselves (will lose to my alma mater Toledo St. Johns in the 2nd round). You will have an all Toledo regional final with Whitmer and St. Johns.
I will give you that Massillon wasn't that bad/overrated, but they also aren't that good either.... -

Those seedings are based on a pretty simple formula. You beat teams that win games, you get more points. It doesn't say you are "better" than anyone else, it just says that you beat teams that won more games. If you have a better way of rating teams, I'd love to hear it...but if you think just saying "oh this team is 10-0 so they are #1" is the way to go, you aren't really solving the problem that you think exists.
