Dalton (7-3) @ Wynford (10-0)

dhs22pThese 2 teams meet up again in Week 11. Dalton looking to get some revenge over last years defeat. Wynford looks to be a very solid team again this year. Thoughts?

OQBDalton has some revenge from last years game.....
Good luck Bulldogs!!! -
thePITmanGood luck, Bulldogs! But it's a big hill to climb.

SonofanumpWynford absolutely destroyed a D4 playoff team this past Friday. They were by far the second best team in R21 last year and as looking close to being the same team minus a great QB. The QB this year is very good, but not last year great. I'll guess they win this game by 20+ and win the region over Moggy.
-
1486wdwhat kind of an offense does wynford run? Dalton is very fast but quite small. They have defended teams that like to run outside and passing teams very well, but have proven to be vulnerable to power running teams due to the mentioned lack of size and depth up front. I think this will be a very tough matchup for the bulldogs, but not an impossible one.
-
OQBI thought last year with their good QB they tossed the ball around quite a bit...could be wrong but I thought it was a spread.
-
SonofanumpHere you go. Ontario is no slouch of a team.

RoyalNuthere is a direct quote from Wynford Coach Travis Moyer: "I think some people counted us out early, when you have two starters back on offense and three starters back on defense, we had a bit of a learning curve," Moyer said. "That's what we really preach is getting better. You have to credit our coaching staff and kids for where we're at."
That is right we got two starters back on offense and three back on Defense
#10 Zach Chatlin and #75 Nate Hinelin both played O last year and #6 Nate Galowski played D along with the other two. That is it. And I am huge Royals fan and was one that thought this could possibly be an off year for us. Not that we didn't have talent, but we lacked a lot in experience. I never counted us out, but I will admit after the very hard fought game with Mohawk (who always plays us tough, and is in the playoffs in D-6 region 22 ranked 3rd with a 9-1 record) was played to a 7-0 victory. I have to admit I did not know at that time if we would keep the unbeaten regular season wining streak alive. After the Mohawk game our schedule was relatively easy for the next four games, we won all of these fairly easily as all expected. No offense to those teams, but hey. And our team steadily improved during these four games. We were left with the four most difficult teams in our league left for the final four weeks. We had a gut check moment in week 7 playing Colonel Crawford when they had us down 14-0 at the half. It was make it or break it time for this season, our kids came out in the 2nd half and executed flawlessly. Defeating a very good Col Crawford team that was much improved. But that was when this team went from thinking they could win to knowing it. We have taken care of business ever since, and have looked really good doing it. The Buckeye Central game was a very good hard fought game. Buckeye has a very good team this year, big physical and fast. The mark of a good HS football team is do they improve from week to week. To be honest I'm really not sure what formula Coach Moyer is using? But I will tell you this, what ever it is is working. This coaching staff has a way of getting the very best out of the kids they have to work with. This years Royals are no exception to that rule. I'm sure Dalton has a great team as well. But if they can take Wynford out in this first round they will have earned it. And my hat will be off to them! Good luck to all-hard fought injury free game!
Cant Waite!

Fooled me. That dismantling of Ontario was very impressive. -

Solid would be a very good description. -
joe-tarioYes, they will run inside and outside. The line is very disciplined and solid. They have a really athletic Qb and a nice set of Rb's. They will pass short and long. Their receivers are tall, 6'3" ish and the te must be 6'6". They all could catch and run. Te has a wicked stiff arm. Weaknesses would be the kickoffs were short and extra point kicks were inconsistant. I do not know, maybe the kickers leg just got tired against Ontario.

Truth is that Ontario game may have been our offensively most complete game. We did a great job a spreading it around that night.
So whats Dalton look like this year? I know last year you guy were speed speed and more speed. While Wynford can still run on D, I think our over all team speed might be a tick slower then last year. But these kids have the fundamentals down, you don't see many broken tackles.
I expect a good game, I am rooting for Wynford, but hey Dalton did something right to get in this game! -
dhs22pWe are still the speed speed speed team. Different coach than last year and the offense will look a hair different that last season. We are probably a little smaller than last year. As well we played a very good game last week. One of our best of the season. Hopefully we can continue that momentum. Last week that had to be the most fired up Ive seen us in awhile. Go Dogs!

beverboy1i agree they need to come out the same way with wynford we can't get down like we did with hillsdale or northwestern and play from behind!!! go dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
1486wdyes, the bulldogs have come out with very little emotion in their losses this year and got down early. They will definitely not be able to do that on Friday. Dalton still runs the option, but their sets are much more varied this year than last. A couple very fast backs and fast QB that is very good with the football. Like last year, they don't throw a lot but can if they need to. Their back seven will probably be the fastest Wynford has seen this year, but also one of the smallest. The key to this game IMO will be who gets up early and if the bulldogs can slow the royals down enough up the middle.
-
luckydogHopefully we won't be as predictable as we have been all season. This time of year we need to loosen things up a bit on both sides of the ball. We can win this game if the boys are all jacked up and the coaching staff makes adjustments during the game and not just at halftime..........
GO BULLDOGS -
THE4RINGZ^^^^ Your font color is gold not orange. FYI.

RoyalNutWell the old saying Defense wins championships is IMHO true. I think this game will be decided with Dalton's Offense on the field and if Wynford can get some stops. I am pretty sure Wynford will move the ball. Our offensive line is gelling at just the right time. They were able to pretty much blow a much bigger D line from Ontario off the line of scrimmage. They used the power run game to set up the pass. Our offense is really pretty diverse this year. While our defense did play much better in the last half of the season, lets just say its not the iron curtain. They can give up some yardage. But I must say over the course of the games later in the season our defensive coordinator has made the right adjustments and come with stops when they were needed. He has some ball hawks and has done a really nice job in the take away department. This is a very important game for Wynford, I know I know kind of a dumb statement given that the looser goes home. But the play-offs are a whole new deal. That 1st playoff game is full of jitters and nerves on both sides. But I think if Wynford can put this one in the W column this team could go very deep in the playoffs this year.
