bubba32If the weather is as bad as they are predicting the O-G crowd will not be all that large, lot of fair weather fans.
O-G will mix up there offence about 65% run 35% pass. They like to run the power I alot then they will go into the shotgun with a back in the backfield.
How is the seatting at Genoa.
Final predictaion O-G 21 Genoa 20 -
birddog23^^^Ouch Pickard misses another extra point to lose the game...lol

Have they been practicing their kicking game on 3rd downs again this season during their first 10 games? Maybe they should start kicking the ball on 2nd down. Just a thought. -
bigkahunabubba.
If you're familiar with OG's opponents, I would compare the seating to VW, Fostoria, Shawnee and even OG's visitor stands. The main section is about as big as VW's/OG's (last time I was there was my Jr year in 02), so it's not that big. They have probably 3-4 extra sets of bleachers on the visitors side, so it's broken up like Shawnee. I would say it's closest to Shawnee or Fostoria all together. There is a track around the field, and I'm not sure if they allow you to stand on it like other schools do.
Hope that helps. -

No, you cannot stand on the track. But you can stand by the fence around the track. -
bigkahunaThat's what I figured.
Are there "club seats" or something above the Comet Store? I'm just curious as to what that is.
I've been working with the GALS for 2 years now and have been dying to go to a Comet game, but I coach for another school; sad to say we didn't make the playoffs. Looking forward to see what this is all about. I remember seeing a limo pull up for the homecoming game a few weeks ago, so a playoff game should be a hoot. -

The area above the "Booster Barn" is for Booster members to sit in. Each week a different member is chosen and they can have up to a certain number of people sit with them. Sorry to hear your team didn't make the playoffs. Good luck to you next year. You will be welcomed at Comet Stadium as all it's visitors are. Make sure you check out the concession stand while you are there. They got the best french friesbigkahuna;544384 wrote:That's what I figured.

bubba32how is the press box.
I was thinking 2 td's and 2 fg's -
bigkahunaIMO Nothing special. Doesn't LOOK like it can fit nothing more than the coaches and the announcers. I don't know if there is a radio broadcast or anything else like that. Not as big as St. Marys's visitor press box at Skip Baughman Stadium (which was the home/only press box back in the day)

Classyposter58Idk about all you guys but I'm pumped!!! Less than 24 hours until kickoff!!! Ha I'll admit right now is probably the worst time to ever get a chest cold with me sittin out there for a good 5 hours and all but hey it's playoff football so it's worth it. Good luck Comets and take care of business

oberhausI will be there tomorrow. Follow me @BuckeyeFalls for score updates on twitter or watch hashtag #ohiofb for scores around the state on twitter.

Genoa's stands are like a D 5 or 6 school. From the 30-30 on the home side 20-25 rows up, and from the 40-40 on the visitor side, about 15 rows up. The worst in the "now defunct" SLL. Plan on standing to watch this game.
Now they may bring in more portables for the game, (Yes I know they have a few 10-row stands on either side of the visitor section), but you can't see crap from there. -
bwcomet89Genoa's stands hold about 1600 home side, 500 away. Give or take. Other than playoff games what is there is enough to seat everyone, but I know when they built that staduim playoff seating was far from their top concern. I'd argue Otsego's stands are worse than Genoa's, and Gibsonburg's are very comparable to Genoa's. Comet Staduim can't compare to Lake's seating selection, especially after halftime. But coming from a Lake fan that hates everything Genoa, it's accurate enough. How large is OG's fan base? As far as those that travel that is?

bigkahunaI haven't been to Otsego in a couple years, but yes, their visitor side was horrible. If you have a small child, WATCH OUT, they might fall through the gaps lol.
I like Comet Stadium. I spent a lot of out there running with my students during the summer. I like how they bring in those temp bleachers for extra seating. A lot of schools just say screw it. I thought their home side would have sat more, but I guess that's what happens when the students and band sit in the grand stand. Since this is a playoff game, all of the seats are considered General Admission right? No reserved or claims to it.
OG's fan base can be really good or really bad depending on a lot of different thing. I've seen them bring around 1500-2000 fans and I've seen them not even come close to filling their own home stands. I'm willing to bet that they fill up the visitor's side at least. -
oberhausI would say Elmwood and Woodmores are worse then Genoa. Gibsonburgs visitors side is much larger then Genoa.

I don't know the last time you have been to an O-G game but I would say they have traveled quite well - much better than you've indicated. The weather might prevent some families with smaller children from going, but in the playoffs in the past 4-5 years they typically have no less than 1500 - @ Lorain Clearview a few years ago they had at least that and on a Friday night as the 8th seed. Not to shabby for a 3 hour ride -- much more than what I have seen St. Marys bring to O-G games in Ottawa.
I would expect the O-G crowd to be @ least in that neighborhood tonight!
Plus I have seen Genoa's field and stands -- not anywhere close to Titan stadium as far as seating is concerned? O-G expanded their visitor stands a few years back - probably holds close 1200 now. -
OQBGood luck to both schools tonight!

Glad to hear they expanded. They had one of the smaller visitor sides in the WBL when I was there. You're right, it's been a few years since I've seen OG but I still talk to people involved in the program and attend the games regularly (SM that is). Doesn't really surprise me about St. Marys, hard to pack the house with teams going 5-5 and 1-9 in consecutive years. -
thePITmanGood luck to both teams! Should be a great, great game! oberhaus, I look forward to the updates.
-
NWIndianNation01This should be a GREAT game! I think Genoa will come out on top though. Good luck to both teams!
-
Thunder70I think genoa will get crushed. They benefited greatly from a very poor SLL. this team is not like Genoa's past two.
-
RedRider1^^^I tend to agree....don't think they'll get crushed, but them losing wouldn't surprise me in the least.
-
bwcomet89Thnuder is a Rocket, he'd love to see Genoa lose. Kind of makes me regretful for rooting so much for Oak Harbor back when they made the final 4 a few years back lol. But oh well, haters gonna hate. I would not be suprised if Genoa lost tonight, OG has been the season long favorite to win the region, but Genoa has the personnel to compete with this Titan team. It's about matchups, and Genoa has the Dline to compete with OG's Oline, which is OG's bread and butter and has been for years. Should be a good game tonight.
Good luck to all R14 teams tonight.
