Columbus DeSales def. Cincinatti Wyoming 24-7
-
ridgerunner88Is there anyway Wyoming wins this?
-
ManO'WarIf they have a good run defense they can.
I watched DeSales play last week, and they pretty much just run the ball. -

If you can't stop it, why pass. DeSales has a decent pass game, just enough to keep you honest. I don't think they'll have to throw the ball at all to get past Wyoming. They did lose three games this year but all very close and to good teams. Lost to Mooney by 7, Cinncy Anderson by 3, and Elder by 10 but should have beat them, had them and fumbled going in for the winning score then the refs did the rest after that.ManO'War wrote: If they have a good run defense they can.

ZalKathBlaming the Refs is a cop out...I watched the Desales Elder game and Desales hung tough they just lost to a better team...but I do believe Wyoming has an excellent chance of beating Desales...but it doesn't matter...even if they win they will they will lose to Big Red...

Yeah, a lot of fans blame the refs all the time, I do not, but when even the TV announcers tell the view public " here comes the laundry" because the multiple holding penalties are so obvious, it's tough not to mention them. The refs didn't fumble going in to score but they blew major calls on the next drive allowing Elder to drive down and score. Steubenvilles defense would give up too many points against DeSales. DeSales has been giving up very few against better teams. It's not gonna matter because Mooney will be in the title game with DeSales. I picked Steubenville early on but now I think their D will come up a little short. Still a big fan of Macon and the Steubenville program, they do a great job. I'll be pulling for them Friday night. I'd much rather see DeSales vs. BigRed than a Mooney vs. DeSales rematch from the regular season.ZalKath wrote: Blaming the Refs is a cop out...I watched the Desales Elder game and Desales hung tough they just lost to a better team...but I do believe Wyoming has an excellent chance of beating Desales...but it doesn't matter...even if they win they will they will lose to Big Red... -
ManO'WarI watched DeSales vs Watterson last week...not impressed.

You are entitled to your opinion...I just happen to think it is wrong...I picked a Desales - Steubenville final before the season started...hopefully my super Nostradamus powers are still working!ridgerunner88 wrote:

sherm03The DeSales/Mooney game was not as close as the score indicates. Mooney dominated that game. They methodically drove down the field and completely controlled the clock.
* Mooney had 13 1st downs - DeSales 9
* Mooney had 334 yards rushing - DeSales 181
* Mooney had 376 total yards – DeSales 231
The score was 21-7, and DeSales scored with 5 minutes to go. And instead of trying an onside kick, they thought they could stop Mooney and the Cards just ran out the clock.
I do have to say though that I am pulling for Wyoming in this one because I'm afraid to play DeSales again. They are nasty, and it's tough to beat a team twice in a year. Once Mooney gets past Steubenville, I'd rather be facing Wyoming than DeSales. -
ZalKathDon't worry about either Desales or Wyoming sherm03...you won't get past Steubenville...

We'll see about that...ZalKath wrote: Don't worry about either Desales or Wyoming sherm03...you won't get past Steubenville... -
ridgerunner88I would argue that any squad suiting up this weekend is very impressive and should be proud of making it this deep into the tourny. Some teams might look unimpressive to some but that is due to their competition. One good example of this is St. Peter Chanel and their excellent running back Tony Franklin. Tony set an all time title game record in all divisions by gaining 393 yards on 33 carries and St. Peter had 414 rushing as a team, not bad right. The year before again in the title game, Tony had -1 for the game on 8 carries and St. Peter had 13 yards as a team. Same team but very different results based on the defense they were up against. Most of the best D1 schools play hard fought low scoring games in the playoffs due too having no real holes to attack in the opponents D.
-
ZalKathI hope all the games are exciting this weekend!

That's exactly why I'm taking DeSales, not gonna get'em twice in one year. I'm impressed with how much they've improved since the Mooney game. They've been on a tear since the Elder game.sherm03 wrote: The DeSales/Mooney game was not as close as the score indicates. Mooney dominated that game. ridgerunner88There are so many Big Red people on here we know the stats by heart. Not a lot of central Ohio support on here. Only 6 title games played in, DeSales is clearly the superior program.
-
ridgerunner88I'm not even a big DeSales fan. I am pulling for all the central Ohio teams at this point. I am a fan and graduate of Sheridan HS.
My favorite stat, the last time we played Steubenville (playoffs 04) we sent ya'll pack'in. -

ridgerunner88went 8-2 and missed the playoffs this year, last year got beat in the 2nd round by runner-up Eastmoor and that slippery QB Tanner they have (Michigan commitment as a sophmore). Did you really wanta know or was that just a shot.

ridgerunner88I'm surprised you didn't already know, don't you follow your toughest competition come tourny time.

No need to follow Sheridan, we moved onto bigger and better feats!ridgerunner88 wrote: I'm surprised you didn't already know, don't you follow your toughest competition come tourny time.

I appreciate having people to go back and forth with!
It makes the huddle more fun!
Good Luck against Wyoming
Hopefully we can go at it again next week if Desales plays Big Red! -
Strapping Young LadSome Mooney fans say the game was close throughout, Sherm says it was not close and dominated by the Cards....Do you guys watch the same games???? which was it???
