ARLINGTON — In a game with playoff implications, Leipsic that flaunted its running game and its defense as the Vikings picked up a big 50-7 Blanchard Valley Conference win over Arlington at Doc Castor Field Friday night.
Leipsic (5-1, 4-1 BVC), the second-best rushing team in the BVC, netted 262 yards on the ground. The Vikings held Arlington (4-2, 3-2), which was averaging just less than 300 yards per game, to only 114 yards on 44 carries.
Trevor Schroeder was the key cog in the Vikings’ ground attack with 103 yards and touchdowns of 9, 5 and 35 yards. Liam Nadler continued his efficient passing, hitting 6 of 11 for 164 yards and two touchdowns.
Derek Mangas, who had two catches for 70 yards, caught a 33-yard pass and Sonny Hernandez added a 7-yard touchdown reception from Nadler.
Mangas added a 57-yard punt return, Brady Schroeder a 10-yard run and Devin Mangas a 25-yard field goal for Leipsic.
John Inniger scored the Red Devils’ lone touchdown on an 85-yard kick return in the fourth quarter. Cam Brown, the BVC’s leading rusher who had ran for more than 100 yards in each of his first five games, was held to 71 yards on 19 carries.
