Pickerington Central (3-0 1-0) at Pickerington North (2-2 0-1)
-
hasbeenHaven't seen a thread on this yet. They played twice last season with Central winning both very narrowly. This will be the first time they play at Panther Stadium.
Central beat Lancaster last week while North was edged by Groveport. Can Walt or Onetiger shine some light on why Central didn't play a week 3 game?
North will have to continue to fight to prove that last year was the rule, not the exception. -

There are a few reasons. First last winter/spring we were having a hard time finding any non-conference games for the first three weeks. The Herbstreit people approached us about playing in this year's Herbstreit event so we agreed. Then we picked up the Plainfield game in Indianapolis. Once we found out that we were playing on Monday (Labor Day) for the Herbstreit, it was decided that it would be better to take a bye in week 3 (especially since we were having no luck finding an opponent) rather than try to play two games in five days.
Plus... the last few years Westerville North has been our week 3 opponent. Frankly they did nothing for us from a computer points stand point. In fact, we would have been better off not playing a week 3 game last year from a Region 3 points perspective. Playing 9 games against a stronger schedule is more beneficial than playing 10 against weak opponents. See 2009 Hilliard Davidson.... they finished with significantly more points than Central last year despite having only 8 wins (in 9 games). Hilliard lost Westland from their schedule, while Central had Westerville North and Newark. -
hasbeenAhhh that makes a lot of sense. It does sound like it was the best decision. I'm sure the kids would have liked to play the game.
How has Central looked? -
GelBlast69They've looked like crap!

It's best to let resting dogs lie. No, waiting dogs sleep??? That's not it. It's best to sleep in a glass house with rocks??? I was never good at that anyway.
Don't respond to him. I think he's a Central grad. KIDDING!!!!!! ...I KNOW he's a Central grad.
As for the topic at hand... I look forward to the results. Personal opinion... Tigers by 28, 38-10. But take that for what it's worth. I thought the world was flat, too. -
TiernanI have a question...when these two teams play how do the kids know which uniform to put on? ...since most of 'em have been on the other team at some point previously.
-
cruiser_96Ooooh!!!! Like which ones, Tiernan???? I'm thinking of going and I'd L-O-V-E to heckle those Benedict Arnolds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Names? Numbers?
pnhasbeen: I'm sure you know which ones they are too. I mean, you've been charting the teams since the split, which was what... 7 years ago!?!?!? Can't wait to read this one!!!!!! -
Tiernansorry cruz...that was more of a rhetorical comment just to shake up Walt and the rest of the PC mafia. PN pretty much gets the kids that know they'd never see action at PC.

Very good. We returned nearly the entire offense and 3/4 of the defense from 2009. The o-line is big (in fact over 5 lbs per man bigger than North's) and experienced. We're two or three deep with skill, speed, and experience at the skill positions. The defensive front seven has size and speed and plays aggressive. We have a lot of talent in the secondary...so much that I truly believe our starting JV DBs would be starting varsity at most OCC schools.
And the one thing that has stood out so far this season is that we've had a distinct advantage on special teams in each of our first three games. We have dangerous return men and great kick coverage. This has led to an advantage in average starting field position. -

Funny they even have that option. Does that mean all the best decide to go to central??? -
cruiser_96Mine was more in hopes that one could actually be named. I considered the option that the post could be more about reaction than truth. And I bit.
I think this is the game of the week. If there is one thing that stats, gameplans, records, and polls can NOT account for, it is the human heart - or better stated - emotions. Sometimes things happen and a team gets hot. That is the great thing about the sports we enjoy.
Anywho, good luck to both teams. See you Saturday morning. -
hasbeenYeah. None of North's guys would start. Personally, I wonder why North even plays. /sarcasm
A team that is disciplined in special teams gives them a large advantage in offense and defense. Lots of hidden yards there.
Wish I could comment on how North has looked but I haven't made it home. -
hasbeenWe all know it doesn't matter for Friday night, but North's freshmen beat Central's freshmen 21-13.
-
WaltWe're you there or did you get updates from someone? I was there....we could have hooked up. Both teams have some
Impressive looking athletes coming up. And both teams looked big. I couldn't believe the size of these kids. -
cruiser_96pnhasbeen says that size will soon be diminishing as soon as we get soda, junk food and all trans-fats out of our schools. Coming in the year 2022... "the Pint-Sized Athlete" brought to you by your friends, protectors and providers, the US Government!
I heart pnhasbeen! -

I was not. I'm at school about an hourish away. Coach Phillips sent me the update.Walt;495169 wrote:We're you there or did you get updates from someone? I was there....we could have hooked up. Both teams have some

Ideally, communism is the best government right? -

There is some truth to the last sentence, but never say never. May not "start" at PC would be closer. -
cruiser_96Ideally, yes. Reality, mmmmnot so much.

Let's not get into this. How many kids have transferred from North to Central and started? This is dumb. Honestly, I don't know how many transfers go from Central to North. "Oh that's because everyone wants to be a part of a winner." Well good for them, North seems to be on a winning path as well.OneTiger;495441 wrote:There is some truth to the last sentence, but never say never. May not "start" at PC would be closer.
C'mon OneTiger, you're better than to say North guys "may not start." I'm sure you'll say "well some guys would." Well yeah, they would. I'm sure there are kids on Centrals team that would be a rotating back up on Norths team. Either way, dumb topic.
I used to get fired up about this kind of stuff.cruiser_96;495454 wrote:Ideally, yes. Reality, mmmmnot so much. -

Hasbeen----I was referring to transfers from other schools who transfer to either North or Central-----some choose North because they MAY have a better chance of playing time. Right now you need to be really good to rotate in for Central.
