BLOOMDALE — Sidney Lehman rolled to a 21-0 lead on its way to a 28-7 non-conference win over Elmwood Friday night.
Elmwood finished the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 2-2 mark. The Royals will begin their final season of play in the Suburban Lakes League next week when they travel to Gibsonburg.
Jonathan Slagel fired a 71-yard touchdown pass to Nick Cordonnier in the second quarter to open the scoring.
Evan Goffena hauled in a 22-yard Slagel aerial in the third frame before Kaleb Goins opened the fourth quarter scoring with a 17-yard touchdown run.
Elmwood quarterback Jack Waldock countered with a 45-yard touchdown run before Goins capped the scoring for the Cavaliers (3-1) with a 3-yard TD plunge.
Waldock was 8 of 19 passing for 149 yards with one interception. He also rushed for 78 yards on 23 carries. T.J. Waldock also had a productive night for the Royals with four catches for 92 yards.
Slagel finished the night 8 of 14 passing for 181 yards. Goins rushed for 97 yards on 19 carries as Lehman finished with 222 yards on the ground.
