Week 4 - Ashland (2-1) at Wooster (3-0)
-
CCRollyWooster comes in with wins over Galion, Wadsworth, and Ellet. Those three opponents have a combined record of 2-7. Ashland has wins over Willard and Dover, and a close loss to Marion-Franklin. The Arrows put a thorough 42-0 pounding on the Generals last year.
This will be the game that will either A) show that Wooster is a team to be reckoned with this year, or B) beat up on some down non-conference opponents. The Generals will have to find a way to slow down Ashland's passing attack, and have yet to see an offense as explosive as the one the Arrows will bring to Wayne County. Wooster will have to be able to mix the run and pass successfully to have a shot at this one.
Early prediction: Ashland 35 Wooster 14 -
THE4RINGZWooster will upset an OCC favorite, but not this week.
That being said, Go Generals. -
BRFI think this will be a really good game and the score will be a lot closer than what you predict, CC.
-
CCRollyBRF...I really do hope you're correct. But until the Generals show they can play with, and beat one of the big boys, that snake bitten feeling remains...
-
Red RumI saw the Col. Marion-Franklin / Ashland game. The Red Devils had the big time athletes to stop Ashlands vaunted spread. I'm not sure Wooster does.
If the Generals come with anything less than their best, this will get ugly. Ashland by 21. -
5knotsTruth is nobody knows for sure about the Generals. I look forward to hearing the updates while we are at Lex and will be pulling for the Generals. Wouldn't that be something if Woo was 4-0 after Friday! Can't wait til week 10. We will try and do our part to make it a bigger game than normal.

SinisterMinisterWouldn't it be something if Lex was 4-0 after this week?! Can't wait for the updates during the Ashland v. Wooster game.
-
SinisterMinisterCan't wait for week 10 but ours is always a bigger game than normal!

When I say bigger than normal... I mean bigger than it normally is.....Orrville and Wooster have been playing against each other for more than 100 years....this is the 100th game this year because we had to take a few off to fight a couple world wars. You may have a little thing as of late week 10 but it pales in comparison to what Orrville and Wooster share over the past 110 years or so....SinisterMinister;483870 wrote:Can't wait for week 10 but ours is always a bigger game than normal! -
SinisterMinisterHave you been hating Ashland all 110 years or so as well?
-
5knotsnope...I only have enough hate for the Generals....it carries over to that other blue and gold team up in Ann Arbor....but I am softening a little on that......Ashland is OK in my book....we have had some great games over the years.
-
THE4RINGZSo 5knots is becoming a Wooster fan? I better head to church the end of the world is near.

Truth actually is....Lexington has a much better shot at being 4-0 than Wooster.5knots;483713 wrote:Truth is nobody knows for sure about the Generals. Ashland wins easily 35-14. Wooster is in no way at the same level of Ashland.
Go ARROWS! -
wallykAshland should win handily. The truth is they dropped an easy 6 in the endzone. MF is a good team. Ashland had it and lost it. The talent at Wooster does not approach either of these teams. The speed needed to cover the 5 wide set is not there. Woo will not be 4-0 after Friday.
-
LeonardoCalpreps.com projects Ashland to win, 31-21
-
RedRider1Can't see Wooster winning this one. Wooster and Mansfield Senior need to show me a lot to call either team a threat in the OCC.
-
CCRollyI believe the final was Ashland 51 Wooster 37. Some quick thoughts on the Generals. The defensive coordinator has been running the same defense against the spread forever. For the life of me I can't figure out why he continues to go with man-to-man coverage and NO SAFETIES! Offensively the decision to be running shotgun formation with ball on the one or two yard like killed us. McCreary's decision to punt from the Ashland 35 yard down when it was a 4-point game midway through the 4th quarter killed Wooster also. The officiating crew was terrible both ways, but it seemed a little more one-sided against the Generals. Duke Price was ejected from this game about 5 minutes in when he and an Ashland defender (want to say Bixler?) were jawing back and forth after a play. No punches thrown, no shoving, nothing. The Wooster sideline was irate and Bixler continued to wave "bye-bye" to the Wooster sideline and grab his nether regions at the Wooster bench the whole time. By the time the initial shock of that had subsided, it was already Ashland 24-6. Give the Generals credit for torching the Ashland defense to get back into it at 38-34 and actually had the ball a couple of times with a chance to take the lead midway through the 4th quarter, but it was not to be. The questionable coaching decisions continue to haunt this team, and by now this should no longer be an issue. I would love another crack at the Arrows with Duke Price permitted to play the entire game and some SAFETIES on the field for defense. Ashland was slightly better on this night...it would've been nice to have seen them handle themselves with better sportsmanship however.
-
wallykApparently, you did not see or hear the Wooster players as they went behind the visitor stands at halftime. Talk about a lack of sportsmanship, giving the fans the finger and grabbing their "nether" regions. The Arrow defense was soft tonight for sure, and that will be addressed. That is why the Generals were in it. As far as officiating, it was horrible. the pass interference call was complete BS, the Arrow defender was in front of the receiver running down the field and wooster was in his back. Wooster will not get a chance to play us again this year. See ya next year over here. Also, slightly better is enough, in any game. It's all about the "W" and moving on to next week. Wooster players were a little chippy from the start and apparently felt that they were owed a win. Outscore them if you can, or play something other than cake teams to get ready for conference play. The real contenders rose to the top tonight (Ashland, Orrville, Clear fork).

THE4RINGZJust saw the Duke Price ejection play. What the f%&k!!!! Unless he said something on the field but to get ejected for that? Straight up BS. McCreary better appeal the suspension for next week, and if the AD grows a spine this weekend she will have his back. If she doesn't and I am Big Mike I start looking for a new job ASAP.
Wooster played a better game than expected. Ashland was just able to close it out. Ashland has a great team without a doubt. -
Mr Miyagiover 300 yards passing on 13 completions for Ashland. Must have been some big ones

Are you F!@#$%^ kidding me?!?!? Price was just the start of the BS that Wooster was doing. Wooster hitting guys that were clearly ut of bounds, pushing players down after a tackle, then the middle fingers and jawing that Wooster was giving and doing to the Ashland fans while going to their lockers at Halftime. The BETTER TEAM won tonight. Go Arrows!! -
THE4RINGZI think if you really read my post I only spoke of the Price ejection and from what I saw on the replay on television it looked like far from an offense warranting an ejection. I was not at the game so anything else that occurred I am unaware of and did not comment on. I spoke specifically of one incident.
And if you continue reading my post I did give credit to Ashland for being a better team. -

It was a response to yours and ccrolly. Just happened to quote yours.
