Week 4 - Orrville (2-1) at Lexington (3-0)

  • THE4RINGZ
Not counting so much but hoping. You want any team you beat to win out.

Would it be possible to get your Orrville poll up by Tues. every week? I'm going to use it to make my DR pick from now on, and those are due Wed 6 p.m.

    Thanks

Mike Plant in The House! Welcome! Clever user name, too! ;-)

JV's looked good in their win this morning.

You are planning on using a poll on here to make your picks? Just pick Orrville. Other than Ashland there is little OCC representation on here

    Mikeplant,
just keep picking whoever Orrville is playing. DR has picked against us 3 times...and we're 3-0 in those games.

OG and EC are the 2 best in the region right now....OG's first 3 opponents are all 0-4 now, so they're getting no help in the way of 2nd level points....but it will all come out in the wash after 10 weeks. They're just as good and maybe better than last year.

I disagree that we need 8 wins to be in.....maybe 7 or 8 to get a home game, but we've got Senior, Wooster, Clear Fork and Ashland left...all are 3-1. We win 3 of those 4 games, take care of business against WH and Madison, and we should be hosting a game in week 11.

EC has 2 games left againt D5 teams and 1 against a D6 team. We have 4 of our last 6 against D2 teams. Our strength of schedule will payoff.

We have 1 loss and only 2 less 2nd level points than EC, who is undefeated.

We'll be fine as long as we play the way we're capable.

    Any word on Tre's injury?
  • 5knots
just a sprain he will be fine.
  • BRF
I agree with you, RR1. 7 wins ought to get a home game. It was brought up in the classroom about the DR picks, fer sure. Tre was mobile this morning but walking "gingerly".
  • 5knots
How about the head knocking going on this morning at the JV game BRF! Wow!
  • BRF
Yes there sure was some big head knocking going on. And I would like to take this opportunity to invite everybody to come and watch the JV's play. Normally, if we are away (varsity), then the JV's are at home the next morning at 10 am. Check it out.

    Are the JV's 4-0 now?
  • 5knots
yep to the 4-0. And I have to add to this thread....what is it with us and horrible ref calls? Are we jinxed or is there that much inbred hatred for the Red Riders out there? Last week it was two game ending calls that gave away the victory and this week the penalty on Max??????? Ref said he pointed at the other player when he scored....that ref is a liar and better go to church today. I just watched the game...Max never looks back and puts his hand in there as he scores....if he had looked back he would have needed binoculars to see anyone near him. Can someone explain this to me.....how can you make that call and live with yourself?
  • OQB
We have always gotten bad calls 5knots. I just think not many people like Orrville, just like how the ESPN commentators say the Buckeyes are not that good and always pick against them.

Remember in '05 when we played St. Vincent St. Mary in the first round, the game-tieing touchdown catch by BJ Billiter, an offensive Pass interferance call was called. Then on the fourth down play Damon Robinson was tripped and pushed down and it wasn't called?

Then when I played JV my freshman year we were playing Wooster. We were down 18-14 and a hailmary pass was caught by Kyle Bishop, but the ref said he did not have control of the ball (clearly he did) even the Wooster players knew and were mad that he caught the ball, but it was an "incomplete" pass and we lost.

Then last year in basketball, the state championship game was god awful thanks to the officials.

We have never had much luck when it comes to officials, we can't make excuses though.

The ref thing always seems to go against us.

I guess folks get tired of hearing about and seeing a small div 4 team beat up on all these d2 teams??? The "blatant" bad calls are getting old indeed...but it has been that way for as long as I can remember...especially over in the Mansfield area!

The call against Max was aweful and it could have cost us another win. They ended up with great field position on the ensuing kickoff with the 15 yrd penalty...

But were 3-1 and with two winnable home games ahead...5-1 against a potential 5-1 Ashland team has the makings for a great game....but lets just take care of 1 game at a time....focus on Senior and take care of our home turf!

    RR1, thanks for keeping track.
In your honor, I'm picking the Riders every week from here on out.
  • BRF
He keeps track because he is a "stat man". He, also, should be included in the weekly DR picks, IMO!
  • RedRider1
^^If I was still writing for them, I'd have pushed for that.....I had my one week and was content with that.

    Mike,
I imagine the next 2 weeks wont be too big a leap of faith to pick us. We'll see about Ashland though. Hope all is well. I feel for you having the Monday Morning Browns article.
