O-G’s playoff resume:
9-7 (56.3%), 8th playoff appearance
O-G is 11-2 in 2009, finishing tied for 2nd in the WBL, of which the league champ, Kenton, also made the playoffs at 9-1, and lost in the region 16 regional semifinal. The WBL has an overall playoff record of 77-53 (59.2%). This is O-G’s first regional title, and it is also guaranteed of having a winning playoff record at the conclusion of any of its playoff appearances, for the first time ever. O-G has never played a Chagrin Valley Conference team in the playoffs.
O-G’s average playoff score is 27.8 offense and 20.1 defense.
O-G’s average 2009 score is 28.9 offense and 12.5 defense
Chagrin Falls’ playoff resume:
7-6 (53.8%), 7th playoff appearance
Chagrin Falls is 13-0 in 2009, finishing 1st place in the Chagrin Division of the Chagrin Valley Conference. Also from the Chagrin Division, Aurora (8-2) and West Geauga (9-1) both made the playoffs and lost in region 5 first round games. The Chagrin Division has an overall playoff record of 34-39 (46.6%), but I am not sure if all members were in the conference during all of their playoff appearances. This is also Chagrin Falls’ first regional title. It had previously played in the regional title game once, in 1987. Chagrin Falls returns to Division IV this year, where it played in every playoff appearance before last year’s trip in Division III. Amazingly, 5 of Chagrin Falls’ 13 playoff games have been against schools in its own conference – although I’m not sure if they were all in the same conference at the time they played.
Chagrin Falls’ average playoff score is 25.4 offense and 20.9 defense.
Chagrin Falls’ average 2009 score is 33.8 offense and 11.2 defense.
The WBL is 0-1 against CVC teams in the playoffs, with Pepper Pike Orange’s 14-12 win over Lima Bath in a 1988 region 10 regional final being the only previous match up.
