Akron Springfield vs Canal Fulton Northwest

Brutusspartans 1-1 indians 0-2. old NBC rivals. WILL THE INDIANS BE ABLE TO WIN ONE BEFORE NBC PLAY OR DO THEY START OUT 0-3. SPRINGFIELD RETURNS A TON OFF LAST YEARS 6-4 TEAM..
-
NWIndianNation01Ugh...special teams really need to step it up this week so we can get our first win (we gave up 28 points due to special teams against Firestone...that is the game right there). If we lose this one, this could be a VERY long season.
Lets Go Indians!
p.s. how about we practice some running the ball this week.....just a thought. -
Brutusnorthwest will be just fine
-
ajwahoo2k2Coach Whiting will have the Tribe ready to do battle in the trenches and in the open this coming Friday night. Good luck Indians!
-
RedRider1Gotta find a run game guys.
minus 100 rushing yards on the season speaks so much louder than the 700+ pass yards.
Good luck this week. -
Old RiderIf the Qb would try to run a couple of times instead of thinking he "has" to pass the ball no matter what...you may have a running game.
I recall against us your QB had running lanes but decided to either stay in the pocket or roll to escape pressure and then he was throwing on the run, which is tough to do.
Get a win NW....need your points. -
NWIndianNation01Riley ran it a couple times last week...I think maybe 3 times...where 2 were planned.
-
skiisme753A strong running attack is the reason NW has 8 of their 9 playoff appearances. The "Air Raid" offense that NW runs is all or nothing and it has been nothing so far this year.
Hopefully the players take Springfield seriously or it could be another long week......Springfield is a much improved team from their NBC years when they were horrible. -
BrutusTHIS IS A MUST WIN FOR THE INDIANS. THEY WONT BE TAKING ANYTHING LIGHT.
-
fpfpdadchhMust get a running game going, at least to keep the defense honest. NW has a decent size O-Line and Beers is pretty decent as a running back. I would like to see Hutchison get some carries also. Special teams play must get better or kick the ball out of bounce.
-
cfnw_prideNorthwest just needs to pin their ears back and play football. If you are going to give up points, make a team earn it! Special teams need to get after it!
Lets go Northwest!!! -
akron1I have read all week about how Northwest "torched" Firestone for 350 yards passing. I would like to make a quick point. Firestone had 6 sacks for negative 50 yards. If you subtract that number from the passing yards you are down to 300 yards of offense out of 74 plays which equals out to about 4 yards a play. If you subtract the 80 yards or so Firestone had on 3 interceptions you are now down to 220 in 74 plays which equals out to about 3 yrds a play. Meanwhile the Falcons gained 275 yards on 42 plays = 6.5 yards a play. Now look at those numbers and continue to lie to yourself about special teams being the only problem.
-
fpfpdadchh28 points given up due to special teams. When you give a great team such as Firestone a short field to play with, its going to kill you. Honestly, it is hard saying what would have happened if Firestone would have had to drive the whole field. No one will ever know, really. Thats why you play the game and let the chips fall where they may. And I don't remember us talking about torching anyone. We are actually concerned because we are not running the ball. When you throw 67 passes in one game, number one you are going to get sacked a few times, especially when you are in the shotgun. And you will suffer a few interceptions. I did not see any bragging. What posts were you reading, anyways, akron1?
-
akron1Let me clarify, it was not posted here. Read the Repository, Sports Ink, ABJ and every other rag. My point would more be, Coach Whiting said that his team has played well enough on offense and defense to win both games. I did not see your Orrville game but I saw Firestone. When your defense gives up 6-7 yards a play on average, your defense did not play well enough to win. Northwest, IMO, has plenty of talent and should finish fine, but there are more issues than just special teams.
-
akron1I do apologize, I didn't mean to offend and good luck, you now have big fans on the upper west side of Akron.
-
Brutusits almost friday
-
fpfpdadchhIts cool, akron1. I hadn't looked at the newspapers yet. It will be interesting to see what type of adjustments Northwest makes. Springfield is definitely not the pushover they used to be.
-
NWIndianNation01Slow week on the OC...unfortunately Yappi blew us out of the water in number of posts on this game. We need to work to get some of those guys over here....and also anyone else we can muster up. This site has the potential to be better than JJ's and remain free...we just have to help.
As for the game....
GO INDIANS!
Play up to your potential and beat Springfield!
(btw...hopefully the cheerleaders will get the banner right this week and not have it say fairless or st. thomas or something...LoL) -
fpfpdadchhthat was funny last week..........great communication skills over there at Northwest! LOL
-
firestonefanIf # of posts mean anything, I'm not in. It isn't a competition is it? I post on JJ, Yappi and here and never thought about where it was or if it mattered. Too bad about Springfield beating the Indians today convincigly. I didn't think so but the NBC will have a new champ this year. Probably Marlington. They smeared Poland tonight.
