WEEK 3: YOUNGSTOWN LIBERTY ( 1-1 ) AT CAMPBELL MEMORIAL (2-0 )

oldschoolreddevPlease don't tell me that this has to do with struthers being upset! What a joke! Do them twice after we beat struthers this year! But this is a liberty thread and we should concentrate on them. Good luck red devils!

BigDean1Good Luck Campbell !!!

I guess that I never paid attention to all of the changes that have happened over the years. I probably would never stay afterward anyway, unless it was for a regional title or something like that. I wonder if the boys "take the walk" on Thursday's? Good luck red devils!
I didnt say that as in you werent there btw. Just a figure of speech. -
reddevil90Can the devils hold there great running back??? Yes i think they can for the most part!! He will score I'm sure. Can the devils score without #5 lol absolutely can!! How much can the devils score? well based that liberty will be a weaker d that we faced so far a lot... But can the devils catch the easy go rout? LOL yeah they can and I'm sure we will see some wide open players this game. catch the ballllllll!!! How can we keep the kids from getting hurt and if we lose another player for even a few games could be very costly! I say air it out more then not. and in the 4th play Old style red devil smash mouth football! Pound them!!! And lets watch some devil jacks after the game. My thoughts that's all. Play safe both teams and good luck devils.

oldschoolreddevThat's why I hate texting and message boards, it makes it difficult to tell peoples sarcasm or just"figure of speech" statements. I, like all of you, just want to see this team reach its full potential. I would take a conference title, regional title or even better a state title over doing devil jacks.
Back to the game at hand. Good luck red devils! Stop purdue, limit the stupid mistakes & turnover and everything will work out fine. -

I couldn't agree more. I am not sure if any of you have read the "Blitz" section of the Vindicator today. There is a short article on page D4 about the Campell-Liberty game that states Liberty can match Campbell's speed. Then the same article goes on to name a couple of the LaBRAE PLAYERS, Matt Szorday and Andrew Sekela. Liberty and LaBrae are two different schools. Campbell will be lining up against Liberty this evening. Liberty has a fine running back in Charles Perdue and a solid two-way lineman in Luke Markulin. GO DEVILS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
reddevil90Let me say this if there is any liberty fan on here my hat goes off to your team!!! If Perdue didn't go down in the third it could have been Liberty's game! Sorry devils But you guy better find a way to hold onto that ball soon or your gonna find out how many L's can Bite you for that. 2 straight weeks and came out very well last week with a lot of turnovers! This week was luck. Sorry that's how i see it. And lucky there QB could not throw ! Your better then this! What i seen when the kid caught a pass from Lester going towards the field house was the ball in one hand and holding it wide open for anyone to swipe it out of there. I went nuts. very lucky!!! A win is a win though.

BigDean1Campbell was very fortunate to win this game. They looked like a flat and uninspired football team for the entire first half. From my perspective, this Liberty team was not as formidable as Campbell's first two opponents this season, Mineral Ridge and South Range. Despite that, this game was in doubt for much of the 48 minutes. The Leopards were a one dimensional team, (hand the ball off to Charles Perdue) and see if he can make plays. Perdue did make some big plays. He is a fine player. But if the Red Devils tackled a bit better than they did, there would have been less big plays made. Who knows what might have happened if Perdue did not get injured. Campbell once again had too many turnovers, with one of them leading to a Liberty TD on the very next play. Overall, I thought that the Campbell offense was not executing all that well at times. But Lester Hughes is a phenomenal player. And he managed to make some plays on his own. Anthony Rushton had a nice game for the Devils. But the young man needs to be told not to carry the ball as if it's a loaf of bread. On defense, I thought #77 Sean Burnett had a nice game. The kid is just a sophomore and is only going to get better. As ugly as it was, a win is a win.
Next up for the Red Devils is Brookfield at Knapick Field. Although Brookfield will not possess the speed that Liberty has, the Warriors do have two nice running backs. One of them runs very hard and is 230 pounds. So I believe it's time for the defense to stop arm tackling and put the clamps down. I for one do not understand why such an athletic team on both sides of the ball has so much trouble with tackling technique. Stick them !!!!!!!!!!! Off topic a little, #5 Skevo Zembillias had his first of two knee surgeries this week and all went well. My thoughts and prayers go out to Skevo and his family, whose mother I have known for most of my life. It looks as if the Campbell fans are coming back. Once again the home side of the stadium was well represented, although not nearly full to capacity. And the Campbell band, as small as it is when it comes to members, is sounding much better than it has for the last couple of years. I tip my hat to those kids who are out there. Keep up the good work. GO DEVILS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
soupcitysoldierdoes anyone have accurate information on skevo? im hearing all types of rumors about his surgery.

Skevo is out for the season. This is not a rumor. He had surgery this week. He will have another surgery in four weeks. He tore two ligaments in his knee. Again, he is out for the season. -
sonnyblackLots of season ending injuries to area players this year already. Besides Skevo, Newton Falls has lost their 2 top players for the season (1 being their QB), JFK lost their best offensive threat, there's someone else too that I can't remember at this particular moment.
As for the game last night, the Devils gutted out an ugly win. Like Bigdean said, no enthusiasm at all in the first half, very disappointed with that aspect. Second half was somewhat better, but anyone who thinks that the loss of Zembillas wasn't a major blow to this team, last night tells all you need to know. Brookfield next. -
cmhs_prideOn Facebook I simply said an ugly win is a win and hey...3-0 is just that..... 3-0.
On here I will say the same thing and add this.......if you guys think that you are going to make noise playing like that you better wake the hell up.
In other words, don't get too excited about what you did last night. Start playing in the first half like its a football game and not a funeral for cryin out loud.
The loss of Skevo showed big time last night.
Sorry, I will support this program to the end, but don't expect me to sugar coat everything. You guys did not execute last night and you still won because you didnt quit. I am glad to see that. But fellas....you have got to hang on to the ball already. -
cmhs_prideCouple good points, Lester Hughes played very well last night given the situations he found himself in. Very poised back there. Anthony Rushton had a good game, and Number 77 was great on Defense. Bledsoe was Bledsoe. That's a good thing. I would love to see number 7 and number 25 get a chance to touch the ball more often.
Bad points....tackling is non existent at times and who is going to step up into Skevo's place?? Nobody yet. Pound Brookfield.
