Speedofsandhttp://blogs.sites.post-gazette.com/index.php/sports/varsity-blog/21223-live-blog-rally-at-wolvarena-caputo-update
FINAL: STEUBENVILLE 7, MCKEESPORT 0
FINAL: CENTRAL CATHOLIC 35, AKRON BUCHTEL 6
FINAL SCORE: COCOA, FLA. 43, THOMAS JEFFERSON 7 ...I saw Cocoa play a helluva game with Olive Branch, Miss last week here in my local stadium. It was fun.
Manatee up 24-10 after 3 qtrs. Mike Blakely is killing Woodland Hills just like he killed James Wilder and Plant last week. -

Woodland Hills, PA 16
Manatee, Fl 39
Woodland Hills scored a TD on the last play of the game. -
SykotykWoody High had a 10-9 lead about 5 minutes into the third quarter, lost a player (I believe their RB) and it was all downhill after the long TD pass by Manatee.

ManO'WarMy favorite team to watch was Cocoa, but their "star" player number 4 was a head case. He is not even the best player in their backfield, much less the nation. Cocoa is a 2A school in Flordia, which means D4 or D5 up here. They even brought a nice little following.
Woodland Hills was just playing on emotion, but you could tell as the game went on that Manatee was going to take control. They run a very unique offensive scheme and have playmakers all over. Blakely lived up to the hype. He is not only a great runner, but does the other little things well too. Woodland Hills did have some success on the ground though against the Hurricane defense. Both teams have great kickers.
Buchtel was in the game until the 3rd when the roof fell in. The Griffs had 2 punt blocked that gave PCC two touchdowns, and then Buchtel's players lost composure and the rout was on.
All in all it was a great day in the Wolverena. -
ThinthickbigredWatched the game and Woodland Hills and Florida played even for almost 3 quarters .
I know some Ohio powers would beat that team . No doubt . Tired of Florida . Tired of hearing how great they are . Looking at a Florida team get a 2 point conversion when up by 28 in the 4th . Watching both teams celebrate with each other when beating a northern opponent . Hearing the Florida fans bragging . Good luck Glenville .
I know Steubenville couldnt have done any worse than Woodland Hills . So Id like to see one of our big brothers in the finest state for footabll just plow one of them teams . I know they are good . I know they have speed . I dont care if they have spring practice . I am confident that Ohio is in the talking for best high school football in the USA and I am tired of our teams being overlooked .
When I saw that Aquinas team from Florida come up here last year and play Upper Arlington on a down year in the SHOE, and destroy probably our 100th best team in the state last year ,I know we can schedule better .
The Herbstiet needs to get our best and play those Florida best 6 games 3 up here and 3 down there . -
ThinthickbigredMooney is a d-3 and d-4 team in Ohio . Class means little at times up here and I bet the same applies in Florida . We have some great MAC schools that could fight for the pride of Ohio and a great Cinci catholic league that does well . Stark county teams are good and dont forget Mooney and Youngstown . Toledo and Cleveland

SpeedofsandThinthick, take a chill pill. Just talkin high school football, its all good. Ohio, Fl., Texas are the best. Dwyer vs Glenville is a fair match up. Cocoa and Belle Glades are very small schools but they are as good as Manatee who is in the 2nd largest class down here. It would be easy to have 10 games between Ohio and Florida high schools and each could win 5. I'm just posting Ohio and Florida info as I have it, never said one was better. I think its relevant that the Buckeyes have 4 starters from Florida.

ThinthickbigredIm really not angry . Just stirring up some pride. When I was at the game a Mckeesport guy was sitting in our section and another guy from Woodland Hills . Typical BS McKeesport guy was like lowballing his team but I think he might have been looking for trouble . The Woodland Hills guy didnt reveal his team until they played . I asked him who his school was and he said he wasnt from around here . I guess he thought I wouldnt stay for the whole event . We had several conversations and he asked me which state do I think has the best HS football Florida Texas or California . Naturally with my Ohio hat on I says well I am biased but OHIO . I just think if anything we deserve to be in the discussion . Dont dis my state . I said Ill tell you what Ill put our best Ohio High schools against anybody in the USA. I enjoyed watching other teams . I saw Manatee destroy the #2 team in the USA last week on TV and Woodland High gave them a hell of a fight . So when I see only Glenville has a national ranking from Ohio and they havent even won a title yet and get clobbered by Mooney in a scrimage I know one thing the media doesnt know squat . As a Big Red guy I know this having Brooke high WVA ranked nationally more than once and seeing some of the great Big Red teams overlooked I just want others to know things .

ManO'War
It helps when Doug Huff of Wheeling West Virginia is compiling the rankings. We all know that no WV team would ever be one of the best 25 in the nation.Thinthickbigred;472777 wrote:Im really not angry . Just stirring up some pride. DarkonI may be wrong and I'm sure someone will let me know.HAHA
But I think Ohio and Penn. has been traditionaly thought of as more of a smash mouth type of game(4yards in a cloud of dust). Florida and Calif. played a game desighned more around speed and the skill positions which is more interesting to fans and may have hurt interest in the type of football from the north.
I know things have changed in recent years as far as the style of football from the north but this may be a factor in the lack of respect. Just a thought. -
ThinthickbigredMckeesport is all run Thomas Jefferson is more run than pass ,Woodland hills had both run and pass attack. Pittsburgh Central is 95% run . those were the PA teams Big Red and Bucktel both have pass and run attacks although Mckeesport stuffed our run and put alot of pressure on our qb so they shut us down most of the game .Florida teams had really nice offensive schemes mixed it up well and some very slippery backs . But Woodland Hills had some very skilled people this year they did alot of damage to one of America's teams LOL . I think the WPIAL for the most part is Woody Hays football . I know Steubenville is not and definitly not Florida
