Smithville @ Mogadore week 2

    Any thoughts on this game?

I pleased with what I saw out of Mogadore Friday. They were aggressive on D and moved the ball fairly well against a good Linsly team.

Smithville had a lot of success on the ground against Tuslaw. Over 300 yards of honest, but still not even close to getting a victory. Pass defense has go to get better, Hilty provided a little bit of a pass rush, but besides that it was non-existent. The linebackers and secondary have to improve in coverage, there have been years recently when Smithville gives up 400 or 500 pass yards for a season, 377 in a game is WAY too much. With Bates out with what could be a season ending injury, somebody has to step up as the playmaker for Smithville or it's going to be a very long season. I think Smithville matches up much better with Manchester and if the boys up front keep working, and the Smithies PROTECT THE FOOTBALL, they can pull this one out against a good Mogadore team.

    Magadore takes this one,40-13.

I want to take Smithville in this one, but can't. Schrock certainly schedule's up his non-conference games. If they (Smithville) had shown a little more against Tuslaw then maybe but I'll say Mogadore by ten.

I know Mogadore returns both stud RB's but if I'm the Wildcats, I throw the ball early and often.

I've heard Mogadore doesn't have much size but alot of speed?

I'd like to see Mogadore throw and CATCH the ball a little better this week.

If you say they looked alright neohfan, I'm much more optimistic about the year than before :) If the team continually improves, I may be there in week 6 after all ;)

    Mogadore big. :(

I saw the last 4 minutes of the Linsy game as I had a work "thing" to attend. What I saw was what I expected, a blistering pass rush by Mogadore and a good running game.

I am not sure what the pass coverage and run defense was like or the passing offense as none of that was happening with Linsy trying to come back, but I will be there this Friday...my boys have made me promise to take them ;).

I wonder how the game is changed if the rain comes through. There is a 50% chance of rain for Friday. Have to keep an eye on that. Turns into more of a ground game for both teams which may favor Smithville...then again if they are having turnover problems the rain might not be a good thing.

Just looked at the hour by hour and it is calling for dry weather come game time. From about 2:00 on it is to be dry.

I would say the rain would help Smithville but still an uphill battle for them, also I heard Smithville had another injury this week. A. Spurlock is out for this weeks game he had 2 INT's last week and is a solid LB. Another injury hits the Smithies.

Gonna be a tough game for the Smithies. Just don't want it to get ugly like last year. 42-7 loss is not what we want to see this year.

Too bad about the injury...hope he heals quickly and is back on the field.

Not a good night for the Smithies, 3 times in the first half they penetrated Mogadore's 10 yard line, the score at half was Mogadore winning 17-0.

Coming away with 0 points having the ball 3 times inside the 10 has got to be devastating. Especially since up until after the 2nd time Mogadore's offense had done zero. After the 2nd trip in there going Mogadore's way Mogadore finally gets the offense going and drives to go up 7-0.

Mogadore's K (can't remember name) set a school record by hitting a 47 yd FG as the first half expired.

Mogadore had a good balance of run and pass from the 2nd Q on and kept the Smithies guessing. Smithville ran the ball well with 2 RBs and their QB, Mogadore had trouble tackling them.

I want to say the final was 31-14? I think Smithville scored a late TD to make it 14.

How about Hilty getting hurt too. The injury bug is killing Smithville this year.

Injuries aren't helping but Turnovers on what I saw is what is killing smithville. They are very physical and talented they are hurting themselves.

I agree, I don't care how good you are, if you turn the ball over as much as Smithville did, and the WAY they did (inside the 10) last Friday, you won't win ball games.

For most of the 1st half they severely outplayed Mogadore, and for their efforts they were losing 17-0 at half due mostly to turnovers.
