Canal Fulton Northwest vs Akron Firestone

BrutusFirestone will be big and strong. should be a good game.
-
Brutuslots of talk going on here
-
VikingNorthwest is about to open a can of whoop azz.
-
cfnw_prideNorthwest QB MUST suvey the field and check off his recievers in order to shine. He has a nice arm but needs to run into the pressure while finding his open targets. In a offense attempting 50 passes a game (Orrville), you can not afford to rush passes. I feel Riley will have a great game Friday against Firestone!!!
The Indians D will continue to rise!!!
Good Luck Indians! Beat Firestone!!! -
skiisme753Riley will settle down this week. Have to remember he is only a junior and has tons of room to grow into a great QB. I wish they would use more of the run game - at least put a back in the backfield. If its 5 wide the defense knows that its a pass. NW really doesn't have any one great to catch the ball from Riley this year. It just seems like the team is lacking the superstar this year so far....no Jones, Bach, Stover, Stacy type player. Hopefully someone can step up this year and fill their shoes.
-
VikingFirestone will run their brusing back behind Ohio State recruit Tommy Brown, Make sure your chin straps are real tight Indians, 'cause hats will knock and pads will pop.

Not trying to start anything, but I disagree!
We have more weapons at the reciever positions! Outside of Hoffman and Shetler, Beers, Harris and Knight have great hands and speed! I have seen plenty of Frosh and Soph's QB's play great at the Varsity Level! I know Riley will settle in fine. He will do great things this year!
Go Indians!!! -

VikingTwinsburg is a VERY good team and Firestone came out flat. That won't happen this week.
-
Brutusnorthwest also had some players sitting out. dont count these Indians out were young and we will strap up. riley still had 400yds . wow how much you gotta have to make people happy
-
skiisme753Hopefully NW settles down this week and doesn't hand Firestone 17 free points like they did last week.
It could be another close game - Firestone is no slouch this year and I'm sure they want revenge for the past few years. -
NWIndianNation01Where to start...where to start.
I can guarentee that the coaching staff will have NW looking like a different team after last week's poor play. There is too much talent and promise in this team to think otherwise.
What needs to improve:
QB - Riley HAS to look at more than one receiver each play. The defenders we play against aren't stupid. They can see who he is looking at and know the ball is going there. He needs to look down a few receivers and choose the best target. Hoffman and Beers aren't the only guys out there...(although he did hit Shetler with a few nice shots). However, I know that Harris was open most of the night and wasn't getting the ball. How you don't throw the ball to your fastest kid makes no sense to me. Also, Riley needs to get his "touch" down...too many over-throws.
WR's - need to work on routes a little. I saw Whiting chewing out the receivers like crazy on Friday due to poor routes. This area wasn't terrible, but can be improved upon. Also, the guys need to run full out on every play...you could see some times when the receivers would slow down instead of running hard.
Run Game - Need to work on following the blockers. We tended to try to make our own holes rather than letting the lead block do the work for us.
OL - When we are running we need to open some bigger holes. The holes were dinky on Friday. Also obviously need to work a little on giving the QB some more time.
Defense - Overall they looked pretty good but for sure need to work on some tackling drills. We are starting to look like Glenville....
Special Team....um.....just work hard this week...a lot of holes to fill. -
REDDEVILYou've made some legit statements Nation01! ---especially about the run game, I have to agree! # 11 is fast if they can throw to him out in the open. The kids just need to calm down a bit. The linebackers played with intensity! I'd like to see more of that enthusiam in the field.

NWIndianNation01Wow...looks to be a slow week on the OC.

Drums of WarI have a feeling from how hot Whiting was on the sideline Friday night that this has not been a fun week of practice for the boys, and they will come out focused like a laser this week. Without the fumbles, bad snaps, and blocked kicks, we would have rolled Orrville last week. If we play more ball control, and less heave it down the field, this week should be a much better outcome.
-
VikingFirestone is going to run the ball down your throats.
-
Brutuswe have never had antone run it down our throat. i dont think firestone has the line to do that. i agree grice could do it but i dont think he can do it by himself

Fumbles, bad snaps and blocked kicks come from good defense not just bad luck. The Riders had a great defensive game last week. Northwest has a very good team the Riders hope you win out. Good luck Indians! -
neohfanLike Northwest in this one 31-14
-
nw-indian-dadI would say other than the blocked kick, all the rest had nothing to do with Orrville. Total NW meltdown. Orrville did what good teams do, took advantage of what was given. They deserved the win. Good luck the rest of the way out.

Because Northwest scores 5 tds and misses 4 extra points? They certainly will not be kicking a field goal unless their kicking game has progressed from Garfield. -
NWIndianNation01Yeah...the kicking game is pretty scary...hopefully it improves
-
fpfpdadchhThe special teams play really hurt Northwest last week. Punt team needs to stay in their lanes better. The defense needs to finish their tackles. Total wrap up and bring em down. Once we figured out who was punting, it was ok.

Brutusnorthwest fans . you should know by now that whiting is a master at making change. sit back and watch. fireworks are coming
