Week 2 - Orrville (1-0) vs Triway (1-0)

  • thePITman
It was a joke. I even put a little smiley face guy after it. I was just making a point that even when Triway plays a better game and earns a win on their home turf, it's STILL not good enough for Orrville fans to admit a loss instead of making excuses. :) Here's hoping Coach Davault is part of the 1st AND 2nd losses to Triway on Orrville's home turf. If we can "steal" a win tonight, I will be very proud of how far our kids have come... but Orrville is a very good team with a swagger and confidence that most kids and most programs don't have. If we want to be the best, we have to beat the best. And I mean that. (On a serious note, and I think most Orrville fans like BRF and RR1 know this, but I hope I make it obvious all the time that I have complete respect for Orrville athletic programs, especially their football team. I would love our football program to be 1/2 of what yours is. Chit-chat is chit-chat. But when it comes down to it, many here hope our football program can someday resemble yours in some way.)

On another note, did anyone see a quote in the Daily Record from OhioChatter? Mike Plant's post from the WCAL thread made it in Aaron's weekly pick'em-page write-up. The only thing that was missing was a plug for OhioChatter.com.

    5knots speaks truth.

History means nothing. Triway has the gaudy stats and hype....that's usually Orrville's bag, but not this year.

It's still "Orrville" and probably somewhat of a mental thing for Triway fans, but kids like Derek, Sawyer and others grew up watching Triway teams beat us in basketball and football...they're not going to be intimidated one bit.

This isn't the 80's anymore...we're not going to beat Triway 60-0....sorry. It's going to be close, and that's what backyard rivalries are about, no?

    Pit,
At least we know the DR boys are reading. I think the "'75 win at Orrville" was put in the game preview capsule just for me to read.

I see....you put those little things in there so you can talk smack but then let every know you are a real good sport......doesn't fly here Pitman....remember it's game day and I get a little cranky!
  • RedRider1
    5knots smells.

    :) :) :) :)
  • 5knots
    haha
  • THE4RINGZ
    Serious question for 5knots.

Why do you get so cranky on game day? Unless you are a player or a coach you can do nothing to control the outcome of the game? Why not just relax and enjoy watching two good teams play ball?

    Just curious.
  • 5knots
grew up here.....played here for Mo tipton.....father of 2 who played here and 1 currently playing.....unless you have done all that in Orrville you have no idea what I feel on game day. Some may think it is trivial and silly....but I can't help it.....I blame Mo for my feelings..haha. I can't wear purple of Blue and Yellow.....although that may change....haha. Give me a meet tonight at brown RV I'll try to explain.
  • 5knots
Oh yeah....I am pretty sure I am not alone! Pulse of the city man.......
  • THE4RINGZ
I pretty much do understand, I have a son who played for four years at Triway and have a son currently playing there, so I get the feeling of being a part of the team from a distance. My older son who graduated passed away a couple of years ago and tonight like every Friday night during the season I will be wearing his class ring. So I do understand the connection. And you are right, I probably don't get the Orrville thing, because I am not a native of that area.

I would stop by the brown RV but will be wearing a purple shirt, and I know you said you have an allergic reaction and I don't want you to miss the game on my account.
  • thePITman
^^ We should both show up all decked out in purple. Maybe we can get the whole town sick! Haha. Just yoking. As for my previous post that 5knots termed "cocky", I don't see what was cocky about it. I'll just chalk it up as him being touchy on game day. Haha! I wish there was a "tongue-in-cheek" smiley face to show when someone is kinda joking, but there isn't.

But yah, I will try to stop by the brown RV tonight before the game. I hope to be able to meet a few more Orrvillians.

Good luck Titans! Beat the Red Riders!

I thought you (Pitman) were already wearing a purple shirt in the 44667 today? Any response?

Well, by 8:30 AM this morning I had already driven from Wooster to Fairlawn to Orrville. So I haven't been in Orrville (away from my desk) enough to spread the pigment infection. I'll let you know later this afternoon if my recent walk across campus has any effect!
  • THE4RINGZ
I would go pick up lunch at Buehler's so more of the town can see you.

I like 5knots enthusiasm....I think Orrville folk can sometimes be a little touchy about being "too into" football. Like there's something wrong with that.

Wish we had a few hundred more fans like 5knots......and I've seen the gameday face from him. It's jekyll and hyde from his normal demeanor. Lives and dies with each play......but also a supporter of our young people in a big way.

Hope we're wearing the red pants tonight. Debuting the new red jerseys so that would be a good look.
  • THE4RINGZ
I like his enthusiasm as well, I was just curious to find out the story behind why he was so enthusiastic. Orrville has great fans, always have.
  • 5knots
don't worry about the purple. In fact I am staring at Derek Carmichael's football button while I work all day, as one of my employees is a Triway gal and her daughter's kindergarten teacher is none other than Mrs. Carmichael! How about them apples!!! She may be unemployed Monday but hey......I gotta do what I gotta do.....I don't like Obama anyway so 1 more unemployed may be good for November elections!
  • THE4RINGZ
Glad to see someone is classing up the joint over there at your company.
  • 5knots
I got all kinds here.....1 Massillon tiger.....1 Titan.....2 Dalton Bulldogs ( 1 is more nuts than me)...and the rest Riders thru and thru. We are the "Rainbow Coalition" the Reverend Jessee Jackson talks about.
  • THE4RINGZ
Yes it has been my experience that Dalton fans are all pretty much over the top. I used to work with nothing but Dalton fans, those were some long days.
  • thePITman
No comment. My boss is a Dalton fan... ;)
  • 5knots
Did we friendly foes just find common ground? I am getting a warm feeling. Not sure I like that....
  • THE4RINGZ
Well Brendan do you want to go practice karate in the garage?
  • 5knots
ROFLMAO!!!!! ( my kids taught me that one)
  • thePITman
The Akron Beacon Journal picked Orrville 5-0 over Triway. See? We are not the favorite. C'mon Titans! Let's pull the upset! It says a lot about Orrville football that we are "supposed" to be good this year, but Orrville is still favored with the young QB and whatever else you guys keep saying to make yourself sound like anything but a good team. Even Calpreps has Orrville winning. I am worried about tonight's game, but I think my Titans can win!
  • THE4RINGZ
Don't believe the hype, good or bad. The Titans just need to go out and play their game.
