CAREY — It didn’t seem to matter Friday night that Carey lost its top three rushers from a season ago.
Tyler Cusac proved that he is more than capable of filling the void in the backfield.
He rushed for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Blue Devils blanked Upper Sandusky 30-0 in the season opener for both teams.
Ahead 16-0 in the fourth, Cusac hit the end zone twice to put the game away.
A 57-yard run by Austin Tschanen in the third quarter highlighted the second half for Carey, which rushed for 405 yards as a team.
The Blue Devils recovered both of the Rams’ fumbles and limited Upper Sandusky to 117 yards.
Bryce Orians scored on a 10-yard run in the first quarter and rushed for 105 yards in the win.
