Kettering Alter def. Coshocton - 31-6

  • Be Nice
Got to root for the underdog. We all know how the "game is played" at the other school.
  • general94
Coshocton and Ridgewood kids have worked just as hard to get where they are than any other kids. To say differently is ridiculous. Comments like that only reinforce the perception that many people have about Catholic Schools. Also, the "open enrollment" argument is a dead issue. Where are all the great athletes in a rural county going to come from?

I appreciate stuebenville, but the truth is many of their kids come from other schools too. When you are talking small schools like Coshocton, they get no transfers. They play with what they have. I doubt that alter kids all come from the same town. And I could be wrong, but they were all not in the alter system from k thru 12.

To say differently is not only ridiculous, it's immoral. To argue the "we're better because we work harder" or whatever the usual argument is so unreal that it make the person who argues it 1 of 2 things.

    1. Insanely stupid or
    2. A liar that accuses the rest of us of being insanely stupid.

Since I doubt that most on here are insanely stupid...
    Well, draw your own conclusions.

I truely feel sorry for you private school haters. You just don't get it. No one said hard work alone makes a program successful. Having a goal, a sound plan to reach that goal, and a POSITIVE CAN DO ATTITUDE is also required. The attitudes of some of the people on this board is very revealing.

ak...and that's why we all have opinions. Go Coshocton!

Alter Football starts in the seventh grade with the South Dayton Catholic Knights, a feeder football program run because State Law makes it impossible for parochial school kids to play for the same local teams they played for upto 6th grade. The SDCK gather kids from four primary schools in southern dayton suburbs. This year there were 36 7th graders and 26 8th graders. Approx 2/3rds of these numbers will actually attend Alter and continue to play football. It is in these two formative years that the committment to Alter Football gets its start.

    3256knights- in 2007 or '08 (I forget which year), the SDCK's started 3+4, 5th and 6th grade teams.

roy macavoy - Having had associations with Alter feeder school athletics, I don't think football has ever been offered to K-2.

Alter is a whole different animal. they are in a group with the best the sate has, Mooney, Bigred, Alter, Desales, Glenville, Massilon, Coldwater, Stjohns, Elder. Iggy, and a whole bunch more in that group. Sorry i missed all the other Big time programs, but list is many, But Coshocton is not in that teir. I will say good luck CR but we know luck will not have nothing to do with this outcome. Alter 49 CR 6

Nobody here is a private school "hater". What's being "hated" here is
    A) The OHSAA's policy toward private vs public schools
    B) The people on here that argue that the playing field is level

It's a shame that the private schools have the copyright on "having a goal, a sound plan to reach that goal and a POSITIVE CAN DO ATTITUDE". Coshocton should have no problem winning this game... Oh wait dammit, I think they missed out on the goal part at the beginning of the season. They planned on losing most of their games and they don't have the total formula now. That was sarcasm by the way. I'm sure the Coshocton players and coaches have everything you listed as well as just as hard of a work ethic.

You just don't get it. Everything you are willing to list for a formula for winning can be done by any public school. It's what you're not willing to list that makes you a greater team than your public counterparts.

So, enjoy your success, just know that there should be an asterisk beside all of it.

Alter wins this one with ease.
  • Be Nice
^^^Mr. Krebs...we couldn't agree more. I'm not a hater either, but it sure would be nice to see a more level playing field. They can argue all they want, but many of us know how the "game" (wink, wink) is played.

.... It's what you're not willing to list that makes you a greater team than your public counterparts....

What is it I'm not willing to list? That is a serious question, I'd really like to know exactly where you are coming from. Have the courage to say it.

It not a matter of courage for me, it's a matter of courage for you. I have no problem saying it, you do.

Your talent pool is drawn from a much greater area and distance than any D4 public school. Answer me this. How many different Dayton districts would be covered if all your players went to public schools? YOUR TALENT POOL IS MUCH DEEPER THAN YOUR D4 PUBLIC SCHOOL COUNTERPARTS. It didn't take courage for me to say that but it would for you because you refuse to admit that fact.

So please quit with the bullshit work ethic, goal, plan to carry out a goal and whatever other balogna you can come up with that makes you "better" and admit to the real truth.

I don't really have a dog in this fight. But has anybody ever heard of Bellaire St. Johns?
They're a Catholic school. But you never hear anything about them "recruiting".
Why? Because they're not winning state every year. Not even close.
Do they recruit? Yes, as do all private schools. Doesn't mean that they recruit for football.

Record and word of mouth "recruits". And the schools cannot control word of mouth or records.

I think everybody needs to just sit back, relax and get ready to enjoy the game that's coming up. Good luck to both teams!!!!
