Is there a maximum number of quarters you can play in Ohio HS football??

Mr. 300Trying to get to the bottom of this....have heard different answers. Anyone know for sure??

ts1227I thought it was 6 per week (meaning all levels of HS football), but it appears I am mistaken.
This is all I found in the OHSAA regulations

1) A maximum of four quarters in one day.

(Penalty — See Sports Regulations)

shall be charged with one quarter of play.
1.41) Any player who participates in one or more downs in one quarter shall be

TiernanJust stumbled onto this...Don't worry Mr. 300 your kid who is playing JV as a Senior won't have to worry about getting in two Qtrs on Fridays.

WebFire40 quarters per regular season is correct. I think it's changed since I played. I think we were able to play 6 quarters per week, but not sure what the season limit was.

WaltDoes anyone really pay attention to this? Who is really keeping track of how many quarters a kid plays?
From personal experience (in 1985 and the rules may have been different).... I was a starting WR for varsity as a junior. Due to injuries and a general lack of depth my coach decided I needed to learn to play safety (had never played there before in my life). My coach had me play JV for two and a half games (wearing a different jersey) at safety after having started at WR in the varsity game. Of course I wasn't supposed to play WR in the JV game but when we got behind, the JV coaches put me in the game and called plays to get me the ball. I had two TDs in one JV game and as we went through the line shaking hands a coach for the other team (who happened to be my grandmother's next door neighbor) said "nice gameS...." and winked.
By the end of the season I was the starting safety (and a part time WR) and I led the team in INTs so I guess it worked! -
WebFireYes, many do pay attention.
