PVC Game of the Week- Frontier @ Shenandoah
-
ffkaponoDoes Frontier have the front 7 to compete??
-
barbarianBig game out of the gate for Frontier... my pick for the wide open #2 spot in the final PVC standings, and a Region 23 playoff berth. Shenandoah is at home and looking for payback for the sucker punch the Coogs threw at them last year in week 1. I like Frontier, but I think they will lose 4 games, and this might be one of them.
-
I drain 3'sRight now, i'm thinking Frontier is going to win this one. I'm not sure what kind of size either team has, but comparing the skill positions i'd probably have to give Frontier the edge with Fickisien at QB and their several capable RB's. Shenandoah will be breaking in a new QB and i'm guessing he'll have his fair share of first game jitters.
-
ffkaponoEli Horst started a couple games last season for the Zeps.I like Derek Leisure RB Shenandoah he will susprise people.Jake Burnoni transfer from Parkersburg Catholic ran for 1000 last season and could help Cougars.
-
I drain 3'sI believe his last name is Hurst, not Horst. Also, doesn't Frontier have another pretty good RB returning? Tilton or something like that?
-
ffkaponoYea Tilton is a good back to.I think Burnoni and Tilton will have to play WR as well.I teach some at Frontier and they are really lacking up front.
-
I drain 3'sThat's a pretty good backfield behind Fick. I'm sure they'll use a healthy amount of draws, screens, sweeps, etc to keep the defense honest. Those types of plays can be very effective against an aggressive defence, and can even be used to make the ground game more effective.
-
ffkaponoAfter hearing that Shenandoah stuggled vs Morgan this pick is easy. Frontier 44 Shenandoah 28
-
ffkaponoFrom what I am hearing both of these are lacking up front.I see Burnoni,Zartman, and Reid putting young Eli on his back.
-
I drain 3'sThis may be one of the best PVC matchup's of the year. I could easily see either team winning this one. Shenandoah's success will depend on how well Hurst can play, and i'm thinking he's going to be a very good QB. I'll give Frontier a slight edge though, and say they win by 8.
-
I drain 3'sMaybe you could add some insight Kapono, but I just don't see where you get that Frontier is lacking size in the line. According to the preview in the Marietta paper their O-line is 206, 260, 239, 165, and then either 216 or 194 depending on who wins the battle for that guard spot. I mean size wise, there is probably only one weakness there and that's at center.
-
ffkaponoThe line just is not that good. With 3 starters back maybe they will improve. The fact that 6-5 Nick Burnoni is playing will help the WR core.I figure if ya go to the game you will be hearing Nick and Jake Burnoni a lot. With him playing I believe they are a lot better then Shenandoah and maybe better then Caldwell and FF.

I drain 3'sFinal
Shenandoah - 19
Frontier - 16
Listened to the end on the way home from the Caldwell game. I know it was scoreless at half. Not exactly the offensive game I was expecting. Shenandoah scored I believe with less than 30 seconds left to win the game. I think they said on the radio that Hurst had 150+ yards passing and like 3 TD's in the second half. -
enigmaaxWell I'm off and sucking on the pick 'em.

atomica600Hard fought game for both teams. Frontier had the Zeps on the ropes but couldn't get a stop on the final drive. The Zep quarterback completed some big passes to keep that drive going. Kudos to both teams.
