Go MOONEY! Beat Big Red! -

Pescara71What was the Best ever meeting between Big Red and Mooney?
Was it 1985? State semi-finals??? Where Mooney wins 18-to 15 or 16? with a feild goal on the last sec and a 4th quarter drive that was 3 yards and a cloud of dust the whole way down the feild!!
In State Semi Finals, Big Red is 1-2 vs Mooney.
But that 1985 game was a great game: 2 close, evenly matched teams. Then they were Div.2 schools!!
Could we see another game like that this year? Both teams have got better since 85 in every aspect but the division -(size of the school) , they are playing in. I think both schools have a bigger area to draw from, but also have a decreased, area, by means of population.
As far as the size of Mooney's players, I have seen D6 schools with O-lines and D-lines just as big. For some reason, in Steubenville, the coaches fill that a smaller QUICK line, with technique is the way to go.
And that style of line(small, and quick) almost always works against inferior lines that are Bigger. That are, not in shape, or they are not substituted or coached inproperly . But Big Red fans will not see that tonight.
I think, MOONEY will be :
BIG, WELL COACHED, and IN SHAPE. They will try to IMPOSE THEIR WILL AND STYLE OF PLAY UPON THE BIG RED!! As they have done ALL YEAR to the oppossition with not 1 loss!!
BIG RED HAS BEEN PREPARING FOR THIS GAME ALL YEAR....
I think these 2 teams are evenly matched enough to say:
WHO WANTS IT MORE?????? That's your WINNER! -

I think most of our fans are happy that we got this far!! I hope they give it all they got,and come home with the win! If any team can do it,it is this one. I remember looking at my mom-in-law when Woodland Hills took the field, and I said there was no way we would beat them. They were huge!! They proved me wrong, and I will not doubt this team again!! If they really want it,they will go and get it! Protect the ball, and don't give the refs any reason to throw a million flags!! Everyone will be playing tonight, and I pray for no more injurys,on either side!! Be loud guys, and don't boo Mooney when they take the field!lolsnyds113 wrote: I really don't mind if Red loses this one.I just want to see them play some great football. -
ManO'WarThe 1985 game was the only one that occurred in the semifinals..all the other games were regional play.

That's a perfect example of why the winner tonight should not listen to the fools claiming this to be the state championship game. The white stuff has come to Ohio. I wonder if it will stick around tonight and who a white field favors? I don't get your question...I live in Central Ohio...the only 2 powerhouses in Central Ohio in my opinion are Desales and Watterson...and I don't like either of them...the D1 schools aren't that good year in and year out to be considered a powerhouse...OneTiger wrote:

socref1Everybody better not forget their gloves and better throw a snow shovel in the trunk for the ride tonight. Might even throw a thermos of coffee in also.
Hope for an injury free game and 48 minutes of excitement, which I am sure we will get to see.

Actually, I don't agree with alot of teams on that list. In my opinion, the only real D1 powerhouses in Central Ohio are Pickerington Central, Hilliard Davidson and Dublin Coffman. Those team are usually in the top four in Region every year and always are the cream of the crop in Central Ohio. Coffman seems to choke in the playoffs every year however.ZalKath wrote:

Pickerington North and Olentangy Liberty have just started to be good...no way to label them a powerhouse yet.
Gahanna and Upper Arlington have been powerhouses in the past, but both have struggled in the last few years. There was a time in the 70's and 80's when people feared having to play the Golden Bears or the Golden Lions...not so any more.
Westerville South just seem inconsistant. Very good one year, mediocre the next, good the next year, etc. The Wildcats just can't seem to stay at the top. Add to that playing in one of the weakest divisions of the OCC, it overshadows their record somewhat.
I think Grove City needs to be added to the list. Although they didn't field a team this year and we have to wait and see what overall damage that did, the Hounds have been one of the top teams in Central Ohio over the past 20 years.
As far as DeSales and Watterson goes, we are talking D1 here so we will leave them out of the equation. (as well as Brookhaven, Marion Franklin, Big Walnut, Amanda Clearcreek and Newark Catholic.... other top programs in Central Ohio, just not D1) -
ZalKathFull-count...I don't think you saw the original reason for my list...was basicly to show that there is no power D1 school in Central Ohio...now maybe if Dublin and Pickerington had expanded rather than split they could be power D1 squads...just like those mammoth Cincinnati and Cleveland Schools...trust me...I have no love for Central Ohio HS Football...

Whether you have any love for Central Ohio football or not--------Coffman,Pick Central and Hilliard Davidson could hang with any Ohio Div.1 school year in,year out--------Central handled Watterson a couple years back-----Big Catholic schools that draw{politically correct word} from all over central Ohio are in a league of their own------but there are other teams who garnish just as much respect---statewide-----ZalKath wrote: Full-count...I don't think you saw the original reason for my list...was basicly to show that there is no power D1 school in Central Ohio...now maybe if Dublin and Pickerington had expanded rather than split they could be power D1 squads...just like those mammoth Cincinnati and Cleveland Schools...trust me...I have no love for Central Ohio HS Football... -
Mooney44CardsCould you guys start a thread about central ohio football. I really don't wanna read about sub-par football in a thread about 2 great teams who are neither D1 or from central ohio.

Obviously a stupid remark. This thread is about 2 schools, actually powerhouses, which you wouldn't understand, that play a game today.OneTiger wrote:

Since most of the teams on the list are done for the year, and have been done for a while, you should be used to keeping your trap shut during the off season
Please respect those still playing -
