All American Conference
-
cmhs_prideWell....Three tiers.......how about some info on what to expect from your teams this year folks. Look forward to a good conversation with everyone. Haven't been on much. Hope there are some AAC posters still out there.
-
ts1227May want to change your thread title to All-American Conference (its actual name) so people know what you are talking about.
People will tend to pass over the thread because they don't recognize the incorrect name. -
BigDean1As a Campbell fan, I expect the Red Devils to win the blue tier and to make the playoffs for the second straight year.
-
cmhs_prideTs1227, thank you for the heads up...did not realize I did that. Wow...lets see if that helps I guess.
-
CardsFlyinHighWouldn't be surprised to see another 3 way tie in the Red tier with Canfield, Howland and Poland. Dont see either one standing out head and shoulders over the others. White Tier I think Salem has to be considered the favorites with all they return combined with losses at the other schools. Blue, not sucking up CMHS, but i think Campbell is the favorite right now. Girard will still be tough though and I've been hearin good things about LaBrae.

soupcitysoldieri went to campbell's passing scrimmage yesterday...they look good. but who really knows by a passing scrimmage...they have alot of weapons though. qb looks more mature, 3 legit receivers. bledsoe looks primed to have a huge season, big, strong, physical. whats the rotation at running back going to be? heard some rumors about zembilas, jales, and dell...not sure who the last kid is but heard he used to be at campbell and moved to columbus and just moved back.

Legit may be an understatement. The Devils have 4 weapons at receiver who can take it the distance on any given play. Bledsoe, Lebron, Rushton & Zembillas will be your top 4...deadly.
Most of the starters, have been starting since their Sophomore year, so this team is experienced and ready to make alot of noise.
Zembillas may see some time at RB, may even start, but I think he should stay at WR, leaving J. Hughes, Shondale Ray to mist likely be your featured backs. Clinkscales & Charles Smith should get a decent amount of carries this year too.
Devils shouldn't have ANY problems lighting up the scoreboard...speed kills, but when speed has the right coaching it's SCARY.
A certain former Devil stated at the scrimmage Monday and he was dead on...It all comes down to defense and whether or not the Devils are able to stop the run. Campbell gave up WAY too many yards on the ground last year, even in wins. Thats not gonna cut it this year, they need to fire on all cylinders. -

oldschoolreddevGood schedule. Ridge from what I hear is going to be good and South Range had a down year which they dont have very often (Last bad season was 2002). South Range also opens with JFK this year so Yagley must have something coming back to schedule these two teams for this year. But then again no one expected Campbell to make the playoffs last year so maybe it was wishful thinking on his part.
Anyway, Campbell looked good for a passing scrimmage. QB made a couple of dumb throws but looked alot more mature than last year. Bledsoe made some great catches as did Zembillas. Campbell will score points this year. My concern will be on stopping the run. Salem kicked our butts last year running the ball with the QB. Can't have that again. Also, how will our special teams be? If we are not solid on special teams, all the offense wont help at all.
I see Campbell as the favorites to winning their first conference title since 1991 and first back to back playoff appearances since they did it from 1988-1991.
Lastly, a little advice. Players & coaches please don't get caught up with trying to compare yourselves to other Campbell playoff teams. The 1994 team tried to do that and failed miserably. Just be yourselves and let others debate any comparisons. -
cmhs_prideGood posts up above. I am hearing alot of good things about Salem. That QB oldschool mentions is back and is my preseason pick as the top player in the entire conference. The kid is an animal....plain and simple.
I am hearing one of the top teams in the upper tier lost a huge key player. Until it is confirmed I am not putting it out there. That may really be devastating for this team.
Campbell can do it this year. But like everyone said....somehow the defense has to stop the run. It has been probably 11 years since we saw a really good defense. I for one am no authority on tackling...but damn, I know horrible tackling when I see it. If the defense shores up the holes....lookout. As for special teams....not so much kick and punt returns...because we have weapons out of the wazoo for that. What makes me nervous is the ability to stop the return against us!! Our field goal kicker is back I believe and he can by outstanding in my opinion.
Final note...believe it or not I am hearing that Newton Falls will be the hardest game we play all year. Just telling you what I heard. -
oldschoolreddevNewton Falls will be a very tough game especially since it will be at Newton Falls. They were very young last year and we beat them in a downpour at home last year. It is going to be another fun season to watch.

There will be a ton of athleticism and speed on the field that night; it will come down to the better defensive effort.
Go Quakers !! -

cmhs_prideI give Salem the upperhand right now. Against Campbell that is. One, we are at their stadium where I don't know the last time we won there. Two, they have an outstanding group of returning lettermen led by their QB. We too have an outstanding group of returners. But here is where it stands....CAN WE TACKLE the QB? Plain and simple. And can we control the ball? I believe we can have some success in that dept.

soupcitysoldierwho lost who in the upper tier? is it an injury or transfer? maybe you can tell us that

After seven wins in six years, Memorial goes 7-4 last season - now what?

Campbell Memorial Football
Mickey Sikora is no stranger to the Memorial football program, having served as defensive coordinator the last three years, but this is his first season as head coach. And it could be a great one.
Campbell Memorial
Division IV
Region 13
2009 Record: 7-4
* Players To Watch – QB/DB Lester Hughes (6-1, 180, Sr.); OL/LB John Sikora (5-10, 210, Sr.); WR/DB Richard Bledsoe (6-1, 175, Sr.); WR Skevo Zembellis (5-8, 165, Sr.); OL/DL David Guidos (5-11, 255, Sr.); DE/TE Dennis Williams (6-1, 190, Sr.); OL Tyler Abron (6-3, 275, Sr.); OL Shaquon McWilson (6-3, 288, So.)
* Outlook – Mickey Sikora is no stranger to the Memorial football program, having served as defensive coordinator the last three years, but this is his first season as head coach. And it could be a great one.
The Red Devils are coming off their first playoff appearance since 1999 and they have enough talent to return to postseason play.
“(We have) a good nucleus coming back,” Sikora said. “Their goal is to win a league championship and make a playoff run.”
From 2003-2008, Memorial went 7-53. Last year it tied that win tally and this year could explode.
Hughes is a three-year starter at QB and was the team’s MVP last season. He’ll get plenty of touches, as will Bledsoe, another three-year starter, who Sikora tabbed as a “laymaker.”
Zembellis also stars at receiver and on special teams where he excels as a punt and kick returner.
Guidos is the anchor of the OL, which will also be enhanced by the inclusion of Abron and McWilson.
Defensively, John Sikora – the coach’s son – is a beast, having registered over 100 tackles each of the last three years. A four-year starter, Sikora was All-Ohio last year.
Williams anchors the DL.
* Schedule – Cortland Lakeview and Toronto have been dropped from the non-league schedule in favor of Mineral Ridge and North Lima South Range. Four of the final five games are on the road, but the lone home game is against conference foe and fellow title contender Girard.
8/27 @ MINERAL RIDGE
9/3 SOUTH RANGE (NORTH LIMA)
9/10 LIBERTY (YOUNGSTOWN)
9/17 BROOKFIELD
9/24 LABRAE (LEAVITTSBURG)
10/1 @ SALEM
10/8 @ CHAMPION (WARREN)
10/15 GIRARD
10/22 @ NEWTON FALLS
10/29 @ STRUTHERS -
cmhs_prideI guess we should rename it Campbell Memorial......with a touch of Salem.

Actually the word I get now is that Reardon is going to make a go of it at QB after all. Amazing how people cannot get the story straight. One minute his career is over...and the next he is ready to go. I hope that is true and the young man has a great season. -
