Suburban Lakes League 2010

I can not believe that they would disband a school district. I'd expect them use part of Owens/JVC to school. They could play an entire away schedule with the proceeds from the "home" contest going back to the school. The stands are still there, but I can not imagine going around the construction to attend the football game.

The Lake kids will be together and will probably use St. Jerome's and existing buildings. They will not split them to other districts. There is glass embedded in the turf and it will need replaced. artificial??? They could always filter the crowd in through the North gate to avoid the construction. The athletic department is meeting with Team Sports Weds. to get the equipment replaced. Not sure where they will play. That is the word coming from the administration.

I could almost 100% guarantee that Lake's kids will not be playing sports for neighboring schools. One option I have heard is splitting up kids and taking classes taught by Lake's teachers at other schools. With the amount of room though available at St. Jerome, the Old Penta, and still having 3 I believe fully functioning schools in the district I can't see the school totally disbanding. I could also see admin. doing everything possible to keep kids together and having them competing in the fall. Its going to be a long summer for a lot of people and what better way to release than by competing. There is a lot of hearsay going around though. You have to choose wisely what you believe.

The thing is though, is that nobody at Lake including administration knows for sure what is going to happen. For people to be salivating hoping some kids could filter their way is pretty irresponsible and sad.

Whoever told you that is making things up or listening to people who are making things up. Jim Witt guaranteed that the school will stay together. There is an unused school in the district (St. Jerome's in Walbridge) and some unused rooms in Walbridge Elementary and there is some room at the old Millbury school.

On a lighter note, The SLL/SBC All-Star Game is Monday, June 14th @Genoa. Anyone else going? I don't know who will be on the SBC side but Genoa will be sending 10 players(All seniors other than Eckel), Eastwood 7(Not including Rolf), Wodmore 4, Gibsonburg 2, Elmwood 1, and a few from Lake I'm just not sure how many. I have been cleaning up all week from the tornado damage, and I know it will be a nice temporary getaway to see many SLL graduating seniors play football for the last time together.

Lake is sending Jake Pack, Kyle Lee and Brandon Tantari. Eastwood was gracious enough to give equipment to the Lake guys, but I Know Genoa also offered. As bwcomet said, it will be a nice distraction from this week's events. I will be there!

SLL tops the SBC tonight 22-12. Wendt(Genoa) was SLL offensive MVP with all three td's, Traver(Genoa) was defensive MVP with an INT and a handful of tackles. Allen Tigner(Port Clinton) was the SBC MVP with a late 1st half TD to make it 14-6 at half, and Kade Kramer(Clyde) added the other td for the SBC. Zach Kromer(SMCC) was the defensive MVP for the SBC.

I didn't get a chance to make the all-star game but once I saw the roster's the outcome wasnt much of a surprise to me. For the first time in awhile the sll got more of their top seniors to play and the results were a much needed win and a shot in the arm for a hard hit area.

Some thoughts on the conversation's going on in this thread.

Woodmore- Should have gone to the TAAC but imo saw the dollar signs that the gates will provide them in the NBC compared to the TAAC. For that unfortionetly the kids will have to pay the price as they get thumped in pretty much every sport.

Genoa- I see bwcomet is getting the sandbags out earlier than usual this year ;)

Lake- Terrible situation for the community and school system. Hopefully something can be done to keep the kids together and get them on the football field this fall. The games can always be moved to a different field but the real issue could be practice and where the heck are they gonna have it?

Conditioning has started for Lake and they were lent a building owned by Owens to hold classes for this upcoming school year so it looks like things will be rolling.

Not sure of the truth to it, but I have heard that UT and Central Catholic have offered their stadiums for games, as Flyer stadium will be unable to host games this year, as long as it doesnt interfere with already scheduled games.
