Champions League

Laley23That was a GREAT strike. Full volley off a corner from outside the 18 for the advancing (maybe) goal in the CL Quarters...away at Old Trafford to boot.
-
devil1197Put in Berbatov.
-
hoops23These are situations where ManU still misses Ronaldo... Rooney hasn't been 100% and they are lacking that extra punch.
-
hoops23ManU has GOT to break through.. Bayern is obviously content with stalling this game out now, gotta find a way to break through even with 10 guys.
-
chicago510Rooney with his current form plus Ronaldo and Nani would be dirty.
ManU lacks the punch right now to break through. -
devil1197Gonna have to be a miracle.
-
Laley23ManU really blew this game. Raphel made a dumb play, but Bayern should never have been allowed back into this game. Up 3-0 at home and you concede in a matter of minutes...then Bayern was the better team for the next interval before Raphel got the second yellow.
-
chicago510Was the sendoff straight red or double yellow? Deserved?
I missed that part of the game -
devil1197ManU choked that one.
Rafael got a double yellow, but the Bayern players pushed for his 2nd. -
chicago510
For sure. Cannot blow a 3-0 lead at Old Trafford. No matter what the circumstances. Great rally for Bayern though, they are back on the world stage.devil1197 wrote: ManU choked that one.

devil1197Really wish Rooney could have been healthy.
We score another with him going the full distance. -
Laley23Bayern pushed for the second...but it was completely deserved. Its an automatic yellow when a player beats you (in this case Ribery) and you grab them by the arms and shoulders and hold them up. ESPECIALLY when its a (min)-break which Bayern had at that time. When you have a yellow, just let the man go. Just a dumb play and deserved the second yellow.

chicago510Will ManU finally regret not signing Ronaldo when they are shut out of titles this year?
Barca has to be the prohibitive favorite now, no? -
gorocks99Barca are definitely the prohibitive favorite. I'd rank them:
Barca
Inter
Bayern
Whoever gets out of the France tilt -
Laley23
Id think so, but Inter can provide a tough match-up for them. The will keep it congested.chicago510 wrote: Will ManU finally regret not signing Ronaldo when they are shut out of titles this year?

devil1197
No they won't because Real M. failed also.chicago510 wrote: Will ManU finally regret not signing Ronaldo when they are shut out of titles this year?

ManU wins that game with Rooney healthy and no stupid mistake by Rafael. This game had nothing to do with talent imo. -
rock_knutneShocking result! Hard to believe Man Utd allowed two goals at Old Trafford.
I've got to pull for Bayern now. I'm a Serie A guy but there's absolutely NO WAY a Juventino can root for Inter, no way no how and there's no way I'm pulling for a Spainish or French team. Bayern Munich it is. -
Laley23
Real are currently leading La Liga. After the way Barcelona embarrassed them last year if they are able to win that the season will still be a success. ManU on the other hand needs some help to win anything.devil1197 wrote:

You and I both know that Real had much bigger expectations that La Liga.Laley23 wrote:

Laley23^^^No doubt, but in Madrid winning La Liga will make them very happy. Afterall, they can keep Barca trophy-less as well if Barca stumble vs Inter or Lyon/Bayern.
-
devil1197Its like the Yankees spending all that money only to win the AL and not the WS imo.
-
Laley23
Its not even close to the same. There are 3 MAJOR trophies available to every club in Europe. You cant compare it to anything in the USA. I mean, in theory, them winning La Liga is the equivalent to Yankees winning the WS. USA doesnt have a sporting event that matches what winning a CL is. But make no mistake about it, winning your domestic league is a HUGE deal to these clubs.devil1197 wrote: Its like the Yankees spending all that money only to win the AL and not the WS imo. -
devil1197CL is the top prize in soccer for clubs outside of playing in the WC.
WS is the top prize for baseball teams in the US.
Real and NYY spend mass amounts of money recently without winning the top prize of their sport. NYY were able to shed that monkey with the WS ring this past season but Real has failed to win the TOP prize. They didn't spend all that money on top players to just win La Liga. -
Laley23Of course they didnt and they wanted the CL. But you cant compare it to the Yankees because if NYY dont win the WS it is a complete failure. If Madrid dont win the CL they can still take home the Copa Del Rey or La Liga crown and while it isnt the TOP prize, it is one hell of a consolation. The season will still be a success if they win La Liga, there is no doubt in my mind.
Of course, after Barca run rampant on the Bernabeu Saturday they will be desolee and then they will have to watch Barca storm back through their stadium for the CL final! -
3reppomBarca is a pretty clear favorite at this point. However I would go so far as to say that the winner of Inter and Barca will hoist the trophy in the Bernabeu.
