Nothing wrong with going with the Big O either. Anytime someone can average a triple double in a season had to be a bad boy!Footwedge wrote: ^^Good list. I took the big O over Baylor though. Nothing wrong with picking Elgin though. -

We can agree on something.Footwedge wrote:

really tons of guards from that era were better. frazier and monroe are both Hall of Famers and NBA 50th Anniversary Team members. were there some better guards, probably . but tons, not on your life.Footwedge wrote:

And those of you who put Larry Bird over LeBron are just hilarious. -

You want me to list them? Frazier and Monroe were not in the top 5 in the 60's 70's era.KnightRyder wrote:

Cousy, Oscar, Sam Jones, and even Hondo come to mind first. Havlicek played both the 2 and the 3. I would also place Hal Greer ahead of the 2 you listed. If I looked it up, I would find a few more. Oh...and Jerry West...way better than who you listed...not even close.KnightRyder wrote:

LBJ has played the 1, the 2. the 3, and the 4. And could play the 5 very well if asked to. Just like Magic played the number 5 when Abba Jabba got hurt. But this is stuff kids in college don't know about.Apparently when LeBron became a 4.

SQ_CraziesI realize. But he's a 3. Period.
Lots of guys have played multiple positions...in fact, most guys have played multiple positions. -

Baylor is listed as a forward, but don't kid yourself. He dribbled the ball as much as as any guard on that team. His assists per year were very much guard like. Maybe you never watched him play.KnightRyder wrote:

But somehow he's a 3 period? What a joke.SQ_Crazies wrote: I realize. But he's a 3. Period.

SQ_CraziesHe starts at the 3. He plays that role far more often than not. You can't label a player a point-center-forward. LOL, come on Wedge. You can't call him a 4, don't people bitch that he doesn't post up enough? He's certainly not a 2. He doesn't run the point. He's maybe seen 100 total career minutes at center. Shit, even when he's in a lineup as the 4, he's still on the perimeter the majority of the time.
He is the epitome of what a 3 is--somewhere between a guard and a forward. A mix of the best of both worlds. -
KnightRyder
actually i did watch him play, many times. he still was a forward.Footwedge wrote:

you named a few and maybe you can name a few more. but that doesnt equate to tons. i never said they were the best of their era. i just found it odd that no one mentioned them. because the knicks back were one of few backcourts ever to feature two Hall of Famers and NBA 50th Anniversary Team members.Footwedge wrote:

Sorry there pard....find a quote of mine stating that Baylor was a guard. You won't find one. I said he played like a guard for much of his career....which he did. You don't find too many guards averaging close to 250 assists per year. It happens...but it's rare.KnightRyder wrote:

As for Monroe and Frazier...they were great players in their own right. Didn't win anything until DeBusher was added to there roster. DeBusher put them over the hump. -
Trueblue23They didn't win shit until Phil Jackson got to town
