Indians Closer Kerry Wood Out 6-8 Weeks
-
wes_mantoothNot a biggie. They probably won't have a save situation for 10 weeks..lol
-
hoops23Damn right, because Cleveland is going to win by an average of 10-2 during this stretch.
-
wes_mantoothwell, yeah.....what the hell did you think I meant??!!
-
HitsRusCloser? we don't need no stinkin' closer!
-
From the HillsBring back Doug Jones, he should be in Dolan's price range.
-
FootwedgeSign Jamison, Nothing like a stretch 4 putting out rallies.
-
wes_mantooth^^^^I lol'd
-
royal_kThis gives Chris Perez a chance to close. Not a bad thing IMO. If he does well, Woods becomes tradeable. The twins will be looking for someone.
-
Laley23This team is gonna lose by 8 or win by 8. We wont need a closer all year.
-
Azubuike24Francisco Cordero can be had. A top 5-10 closer in MLB!
Cordero for Masterson or Brantley? -
Laley23
Blasphemy. Our players arent traded until the year after they hit their prime! You're gonna have to wait a couple more seasons.Azubuike24 wrote: Francisco Cordero can be had. A top 5-10 closer in MLB!

Nope...we like Masterson. Not sure about Brantley yet.Azubuike24 wrote: Francisco Cordero can be had. A top 5-10 closer in MLB!

Azubuike24I'm a big Masterson fan. Not sure the Reds really would have a place for him, so I figured Brantley would be someone for the future in the OF with Stubbs, Bruce, Heisey and others.
-
royal_kI don't think Masterson or Brantley are going anywhere. There hasn't been a Cy Young or a batting title yet.

How good is Chris Perez? From what I have read, he has good stuff, strikes out a lot of hitters. Indians fans, any insight? I picked him up in my fantasy league on a whim, is it worth it?royal_k wrote: This gives Chris Perez a chance to close. Not a bad thing IMO. If he does well, Woods becomes tradeable. Hes a wild man, both on the field and off. Think Wild Thing from Major League, haha. He does have some sick stuff though. If he has it all figured out (he is young) he will be a good bullpen arm who will get the Ks. But he can also walk the world and have the big inning. I think we will find out early on what type of year he will have.BigAppleBuckeye wrote:

hoops23Carmona looked like 'Fabulous Fausto" yesterday..
His stuff was filthy and in the strike zone. Hopefully he's got it figured out, because he's looked good this spring. -
september63I think this Wood injury is more of a problem. He is fragile and likely one injury away from being done. I hope this isnt it but I dont feel good about him having a successful season in Cleveland.

The Tribe will be looking to dump Wood's salary. I'm anxious to see if Perz can do it.
Tribe will NOT trade Brantley or Masterson for a closer. -
Swamp FoxI don't think it matters much.

He wasnt ever gonna have a successful year in Cleveland, lol. You have to be on a team who gives you some save opportunities.september63 wrote: I think this Wood injury is more of a problem. Tigerfan00I just read in the plain dealer that Carmona has only let up 1 run in 20 innings so far and only needed 70 pitches to get through 7 innings yesterday against Arizona. It also said that Arizona complained to the umps during the game about the color of Carmonas glove saying it was disguising the ball. The umps allowed him to use it the rest of the game but said he could not use during the regular season.
