Pittsburgh is a leading contender to host the 2011 NHL Winter Classic, which could pit rival league superstars Sidney Crosby of the Penguins and Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals in a New Year's Day outdoor hockey game at Heinz Field or PNC Park.
It'd be amazing to see the game at PNC park.

If it's going to happen, I'd rather see it at Heinz Field which is almost double the capacity. I wonder what happened to having the Pens and Flyers at Beaver Stadium in State College?

Cant have it at Heinz field.

Possibly playoff games... plus..Im unsure when teh regular season ends this season. It takes awhile for them to get this all done andcompleted.

    can u imagine....Caps and Pen....WOW.
  • rock_knutne
^^^^^LOL, never thought about that! PNC it is.

Plus...isnt NFL season lasts past new yers doesnt it?
Come on rock.....ur better than that!

They did have it in buffalo didnt they......huh. musta figured..hell...its the bills!

guess ya could if the NFL has no game scheduled there. Takes awhile to put into place...but prolly quick to take down.

plus..on grass field..diff than turf like buffalo and could tear it up.

The sight lines would be better at Heinz rather than PNC, but no one can argue against this.

I would be surprised if the Pens were in the game only a couple years after being in the game against Buffalo. I still think Bettman will give it to the Rangers but Ovi-Sid would draw some nice ratings.

This would be pretty awesome. I hope it happens!

Lets not forget that the Caps were the one's to play the Bruins not the Flyers. NBC stood in and said that the Flyers have a higher rating pull than the Caps. So yeah, NBC has some say in this.

True..pitt was in it recently but I dont think the league and NBC really cares about that. They wanna go for ratings.

Sid and Ovechkin are two of the top players in the league, on two of the best teams in the league, and have a bitter rivarly.

Hell yeah...Heinz Field would be better sitelines than PNC. Wonder if I could get our steelers seats in section 513, row jj!

Wouldnt be able to see the puck.
