Browns fire sale continues: Kamerion Wimbley to the Raiders
-
hoops23I like the trade, honestly..
Wimbley was way to feast or famine and another pick (especially a 3rd rounder) gives us a lot of chances to get depth..
Maybe even package some picks for another top pick. -
WriterbuckeyeAnyone who goes from the Browns to the Steelers was NEVER a Browns fan.
Not possible. -
darbypitcher22loading up on draft picks isn't a terrible idea

Exactly. That 3rd rounder could be our starting QB of the future.LTrain23 wrote: I like the trade, honestly..

Wimbley for a 1st round pick? I just pissed myself laughing. Get a clue (that comment isn't directed toward you, LTrain).
He was a one trick pony who had ONE pass rush move. For the most part the dude was a bust. Nice rookie season and then regressed. Rebounded in the FIRST part of 2009 but was nowhere to be found down the stretch.
Helluva NICE guy but soft.
He's better suited to play with his hand in the dirt as a DE in a 4-3.
BTW...anyone want an authentic Wimbley jersey? Bad streak of luck with Braylon, Winslow, Frye and now Wimbley, jerseys. Thank GOD Steve Everitt is retired. -
wes_mantoothI am pretty indifferent to this trade. Wimbley isn't really a bust, but he is just a run of the mill player that isn't anything special.
-
Be NiceI say start over and just move the entire franchise to Chillicothe.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. That's impossible.Writerbuckeye wrote: Anyone who goes from the Browns to the Steelers was NEVER a Browns fan.

Gobuckeyes1A high 3rd rounder isn't terrible for Wimbley...Heckert and Holmgren are going to get their chance to show how good they are at drafting....
Someone can't quit being a Browns fan to become a Steeler fan any more than someone can quit being an Ohio State fan to become a Michigan fan. The two are mutually exclusive.
Screw Pittsburgh. 13-6. -

Let em' jump off the bandwagon. They may be leaving at the wrong time.Gobuckeyes1 wrote: A high 3rd rounder isn't terrible for Wimbley...Heckert and Holmgren are going to get their chance to show how good they are at drafting....

pkebkerHave any teams made it known that they want to move down in the first round? We certainly could package some picks together to get another high draft pick...
-
Eric TaylorThe joke continues to get funnier with this bunch.
-
BR1986FBThat's why I like the multiple 3rd & 5th rounders. You see someone you want in the late 2nd or in the 4th, package some picks and move up. This now gives us 13 or 14 picks in this draft?
-
miller45452003^^^and I have a feeling there not done

From the HillsI like this trade. Wimbley never developed into anything after a promising rookie season. To get a third rounder for him is about the best one could expect. I would like to see them draft a QB in this round (3rd). Hope like hell they don't draft one in the first round.
-
sleeperHe was nothing special, not terrible, but definitely replaceable. The 3rd rounder is pretty good for him, and it gives the Holgrem Heckert rebuilders more tools to work with.
-
BR1986FBThe 3rd rounder that we got for Wimbley is the #85 pick (Oakland got from NE in the Derrick Burgess trade) so we have 5 picks in the top 92.
-
ytownfootballThe draft war chest is getting heavy. If nothing else we can expect the un-expected. So far we haven't done too bad and there a lot of time before draft day to sort things out and work the phones. I half expect something major to go down.
-
royal_kHopefully Roth stays. He showed a lot of promise last year and he will be needed.
-
devil1197Cleveland is doing a good job of gathering picks which will give them a lot of option going into draft day.
They could easily trade into the 2nd round, hell even multiple times if they wanted too. They even have enough, plus a player or two, to move into the 1st round if necessary (QB #7 and lets say Brandon Spikes late 1st).
The guys we are giving up are not franchise players or key cornerstone guys, not sure we have too many of those (Cribbs, Thomas, Mack etc.).
Heckert is building for the draft. -

Same here. The Browns won't have a flashy LB core but should be decent this year, especially if we resign Jackson.royal_k wrote: Hopefully Roth stays. He showed a lot of promise last year and he will be needed.
Roth, Fujita, Jackson, Barton with Bowens, Bernard, Trusnik, Veikune, and Maiava as depth. All with the exception with Veikune started for the team last season and hopefully can improve with another year together in the system.
There is a good mix of youth and experience too. If they get Haden/Kurt Coleman (wishful thinking) or Berry/Javier Arenas in the draft then the defense could really be improved. -
devil1197They will also pick up a LB in the draft too imo.
It will be a tough choice if McClain and Haden are available at #7. -
buckeyes_wooweeThey need to use their 4th and sign Rob Sims
-
miller45452003I think there next move will involve moving Rodgers. 2nd rounder?? To bad Chicago doesn't have a 1st or 2nd. They'd be the perfect candidate for that.

BR1986FB
I may be wrong on this. Several media outlets have reported it as the #85 pick but I didn't think you could trade a pick like that. It could very well be the #85 but I'd think it would have to be the Raiders own pick which is at the top of the 3rd.BR1986FB wrote: The 3rd rounder that we got for Wimbley is the #85 pick (Oakland got from NE in the Derrick Burgess trade) so we have 5 picks in the top 92. -
Eric TaylorYou take Joe Haden (provided Berry is off the board) at #7
Shouldnt really be a question.
