Report: LeBron wants No. 6

    2 things:

    1. I don't think this has any weight on his decision on where he'll be next season

    2. It's just another money maker. And it will work, I certainly will buy a new jersey (if he stays in Cleveland).

I agree. Not that it means anything either way but him changing his number would seem to point to him staying more than leaving.
Why go through the pain of filing paper work if it wasn't a strong possibility you were staying with your current team
I doubt Lebron went through any paper work himself. I'm sure all he did was sign his name.

It certainly says to me that he is leaning heavily towards staying, though that could change, it's not news. He's never been leaning towards leaving--at least not to fan, there isn't an evidence that any of us have that could support that claim. There is evidence that he's leaning towards staying in Cleveland and there has been for awhile, most of it is ignored by the media. I'm not sure why some of the Cleveland writers haven't blown up those instances where he's hinted towards staying to shut other markets up.

Does this mean in 30 years the #23 cav's jersey will be worth a ton or nothing at all?

    ps he's staying
  • pkebker
too many people have #23 jerseys for it to be worth anything...
  • Eric Taylor
This is for nothing more than to make more money.

Great point- most of "the media" are from New York or LA or some other big market who want him to leave Cleveland.

While off topic. I can't see him up and leaving all these guys in Cleveland. He is about winning and having fun and he gets both here. After watching More Than A Game it is apparent he doesn't open up to a lot of people but those close to him are very close to him. I don't see him just saying peace out to all the guys he has(by watching his body language) built a very strong relationship with. Add to the fact that he is VERY close to his mother and she said he's leaving over her dead body...He's here another 3-5 years for sure.

More Than A Game is amazing.

If there is any indication with the jersey change its him staying in Cleveland. I was hoping the paper work would be filed this year because it was needed for him to stay in Cleveland wearing #6. Good news in my book and just another example of him wanting to stay in Cleveland.

    James
    23
    ...........everyone knows who that is.

    James
    6
    ........Who?

Like when Jordan wore 45....just looked odd.

Eh, it'll have to grow on me. I guess Kobe wore 8 before he wore 24.

Just curious, all you Cavs fans who gave Kobe shit for switching from 8 to 24 "to sell jerseys," ... will you be giving the same shit to LeBron for it?

Where did all of the Cavs fans give Kobe shit?

I, who consider myself a Cavalier fan, have never gave Kobe shit for switching numbers.

I think both cases are stupid, but I guess I was always partial to my number and never thought of it as anyone elses but mine.

Agree. I know I never did. I don't remember his reason for changing, but I imagine his reason is similar to LeBron's "Real" reason.

    $$$$

Just be sure to check any thread on here/JJ that dealt with Kobe leading the league in jersey sales.

This jersey thing means absolutely nothing besides he wants to wear that number. It doesn't mean he's going or he's staying. It is no indication what so ever. Those that find something in this are very much reaching. He knows that if he goes elsewhere he can get a new number, he knows that if he stays he needed to do the paperwork now. He was just doing his due dilligence and covering his ass.

    tryin to be like Kobe

No, he's trying to be like MJ, who Kobe and Amar'e also copied.

This has nothing to do with honoring MJ, it has everything to do with selling jerseys..

The #6 is also a little more personal to LeBron than 23, so that's another reason he chose 6.

Wonder what Nike is going to do with his logo??

haha, I was just thinking the same thing.

I saw something about it on Yahoo's front page earlier today. Saying they should incorporate his dunkman logo.

    Which would be this:
