Browns Fans: Who do you want to be QB?

  • just_a_swimmer
They went thru the list of available qb's this morning on Mike and Mike. Not much there either. Actually the list sucks and is full of a bunch of has beens or never was players. If that is our choices then you stay with Quinn and draft somebody in the later rounds or next year. Give Brady a year of knowing he is the guy which is something he has never felt or been given the opportunity. Now if you could trade for a guy like McNabb I would be all for it.

That's why I really feel that the QB will come via trade. The free agent list sucks. Holmgren has always gone after a young veteran (Favre, Hasselbeck) to groom by trade route.

I'd have no issue with McNabb either.

Holmgren is not a "process" type guy like Mangini. He will want to win NOW and anyone with a set of eyes is going to see that it won't happen immediately with Quinn.

I don't care what the Browns record was last year. I think they can compete in this division, NOW. They beat Pittsburgh and should have beaten Cincinnati. Baltimore still doesn't impress me and I feel they too are beatable. That is only going to happen with a legit QB, which we DON'T currently have on the roster. You can't consistently beat those teams running the ball 35x's per game and hoping for Josh Cribbs to bust one on a punt, kickoff or in the Wildcat. Ninety yards passing on 15 completions just doesn't cut it.
I think it's very possible we bring in a veteran, while also drafting a mid-round guy. But I still think he gives Quinn that opportunity.

It also could be a smokescreen. But when we've already expressed much interest in the QB's in the draft, it's basically saying that we are going to go after a QB regardless of the Quinn situation.

JMO, Cribbs had the most success taking snaps this year. Especially that Steelers game.

If the Browns bring in a veteran, he needs to be either a legitimate starter or someone willing to be a backup and mentor a young guy. No more of this Ty Detmer-Trent Dilfer-Jeff Garcia crap. The Browns need to learn from their mistakes, and whoever is the future at QB needs to be taking the snaps if the veteran is not a legitimate starter.

not a fan, but i think anderson gives you more of a chance to win now.

only if the NFL starts counting interceptions as points.

I'd say Quinn is better but they are both horrible. Anderson is nothing more than a strong arm that can't use it.

whats the chances the browns pick up delhomme?

I guess it's like asking which turd stinks the most.

my question is what offense do the quinn backers suggest the browns go with that quinn can excel in? when you look at quinn and anderson they both have weak points. anderson is horrible at short passes. quinn is highly inaccurate at all the throws, short, medium and deep balls. so what offense would suit quinn's talents ? the flex bone?

BTW its good to see BR here

This is my bone of contention with Quinn. I just get the feeling that he STILL won't excel even IF we get the weapons around him. Sure, he'll be able to dink & dunk but if he has to try to stretch the field, his accuracy sucks.

To the opposite, DA can hit that 30 yard pass on the money but throws 100 mph fastballs at receivers when they are close enough to smell his breath.

They both suck. I just think that Anderson's skillset is more salvageable with Holmgren's tutelege. I doubt we find out because DA will be gone. Anderson has the "big arm" which isn't necessarily the end all be all. Can he be "taught" to read defenses and gain "touch" on his passes under Holmgren? Who knows but I DO know that Quinn CAN'T be taught arm strength.

I will concede that Quinn IS affordable and could be kept but for godsakes NOT as a starter. I think he needs a change of scenery.

Yea Anderson can hit those 30 yarders unfortunately he throws to the wrong team all too often.
However you look at it we are in a lose lose situation with those 2 QB's right now. I'd rather see Quinn then DA. JMO

I'd rather cut off my nuts and eat them than see either quarterbacking this team to be honest.

I'd rather see Holmgren himself at QB than any of the garbage they have on the roster right now.
