    Well here's the thing. The last time these two met in the olympics, the Swiss upset th Canadians. It'll be closer than most think.

    Tied at 2 with under 6 to go in the 3rd. Hiller playing great for the Swiss. Would be a devastating loss or tie for Canada.

    It won't be devastating. Everyone advances to the medal tournament. It just means they won't get the #1 seed.

    The real games will start in the quarterfinals once Norway, Belarus, Latvia and Germany are eliminated. The Swiss have shown they can be that 8th team to make things interesting.

    Couple things........

    1. The American win over the Swiss looks even more impressive after watching this game.
    2. Why doesn't Babcock run interference at every chance he gets just like he does in Detroit?
    3. Crosby needs to see over 20 minutes of ice time a game if Canada wants to win this tournament, the rest of the team looks slow and lumbering IMO.

    Canada's defnese is good, but the U.S. can hang with them.

    Canada looked like shot the 2nd and 3rd. They had no flow. Hiller was awesome in goal and Miller, I'd say is just as good as Hiller.
    With Canada only getting 2 points, the U.S. can really screw up the seeding now.

    Holy Crap! I'm so glad I watched this game!! I wish they coulda pulled it off in the shootout.. too bad it wasnt in HD

    Rock, I know you are a Pens fan but lets be realistic. Plenty of great players on that team and Crosby did very little during this game besides scoring in the shootout. Heatly and Iginla have both been better so far. Get off of Babcock already. They don't run interference in Detroit and you only complain about it because Crosby whines about it in the playoffs because some teams aren't afraid to be physical with him. The US was not particularly impressive against the Swiss either and easily could have lost that game. Canada was out of sync tonight while the US constantly turned the puck over in their first 2 games. Need to see which teams show up on Sunday afternoon.

    LOL.......yeah, Detroit doesn't run interference, that's too funny.:rolleyes: Babcock is an idiot, he doesn't play Crosby nearly enough and he KNOWS in the international game the refs will call penalties on his garbage interference system every single time. As for Crosby's play tonight, the Swiss wacked him every chance they got, did you notice the bloody nose? Babcock is too dumb to see that if the Swiss constantly collapse on Crosby and hit him, the rest of the ice is open. I hope Babcock keeps coaching like this, it will make the US' job alot easier this Sunday.

    BTW, I don't know what your problem is other than you still must be stinging over that finals loss from last year. You know, I gave the Wings credit two years ago but I guess the Pens Cup win last year was a fluke in your eyes.

    Well for one, Babcock is not running anything close to the Red Wings playbook because this team is totally differnet than the Wings. National teams that practice very little do not go into much of a true certain system. You let those stars go out and play and hope you find the right combinations and have a goalie playing well. Like I said earlier, take your Pens blinders off and realize that Crosby has not been the best player on this team for 2 games now. Iginla and Heatly have been better and Rick Nash played a very good game tonight as well. Yea, the refs missed a high stick on Crosby but that's the human error in officiating. It happens, move on. And if the opposing team is collapsing on Crosby and the ice is open, it's up to Sidney to get the puck to his teammates and make the other team pay for doubling him. Not Babcocks fault if Crosby turns the puck over. Coaches can only be held accountable so much. Players are ultimately the ones who have to get the job done.

    And I don't have a problem. I gave the Pens credit for winning last year but if you must know, it was a very tough defeat to swallow looking back on it now. There is no doubt in my mind had the Wings been healthy throughout that whole series, they would have won but those are the breaks that happen throughout a 2 month playoff run. Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Hossa, Lilja were all hurt and not 100% and each had surgery right after the finals. Pens won game 7 at the Joe and for that I give them a ton of credit but that loss still stings but that has nothing to do with my comments towards you or Crosby. Obviously Babcock must think highly of Sidney since he threw him out there twice in the shootout.

    I just got done watching this, I had to work and thank god I DVR'd it. This was one of the most exciting games I've ever seen. The US will be able to beat Canada if they're D plays lights out. Canada isn't invincible like some think.

    Please keep these discussions to just olympic hockey and not the NHL.

    Well we can agree to disagree. Crosby is not only the best player on the Canadian roster, he's the best player in this tournament and in what I've seen in two games he's being underutilized. Using Crosby twice in the shootout was the only smart thing Babcock has done.

    All I'm going to say about your comments on the finals last year is that I'm not surprised by them at all.

    Look, I am the fairest person when it comes to giving teams credit for getting the job done in tough spots. I gave the Pens a lot of credit last year for beating the Wings on the road, in game 7, in the Cup finals. I have been watching hockey for 20 years and in my opinion, had Datsyuk not missed the first 4 games, Lidstrom been playing through a lot of pain, the Red Wings would have won a either game 3, 4, or 6 in Pittsburgh and won the series. You can disagree and that's fine with me.

    As for Crosby, he hasn't been the best player on this Canadian team for 2 games now and he has to realize he a team full of talented guys that he can dish the puck off to if teams are going to double him. And not to continue arguing with you, but there are 3-4 guys in the NHL and in this tournament I would take before Crosby. Again just my opinion from watching a lot of hockey in my lifetime.

    Speaking of Jordan Staal, he should have been selected for the Canadian team, he's the best of the Staal brothers at the moment. I think Don Cherry on Hockey Night in Canada was 100% right in his assesment of Staal being left off the team, the kid can kill penalties (really good in 5 on 3) and is a constant threat short handed, plus his size, strength and reach is a big problem for other teams to defend.

    Staal in my mind wasn't ready for the Olympics, Richards is just as good in the role that Staal plays. If the NHL players go to Sochi in 2014 Staal and Letang have a good shot at making that team.
