The " I <3 Dan Gilbert" Thread

  • wes_mantooth
As a Cleveland fan, I am used to overall crappy ownership, so my scary man crush on Dan Gilbert must be noted.

I love the fact that he put the pressure on Phoenix to make the deal. They hesitated, and he moved on. I am sure that Ferry had a lot to do with it, but it is known that Gilbert got involved.

I love that he will do whatever it takes to win a championship for this city.....a city that is starved for a winner.

In short.....I love you Dan Gilbert.....I want to have your babies.

Also, props to Danny Ferry for raping yet another team.

    Ferry did rape another team.

Yep, the message is now clear, when the Cav's want an answer, don't hiccup or you'll be left holding the bag.

Someone on twitter (NBA Media personnel) said that this deal might help the Clippers....

    ..get LeBron.

I too am enamored with DG, ever see him sit down with Austin and Fred? Dude reminds me of Michael Scott from the Office. "That's what she said."

    Awesome.

Lebron may leave Cleveland but it won't be for the Clippers, owned by Donald Sterling.

I blame Bill Simmons for this talk.

    It was Chad Ford.

Dan Gilbert is an incredible owner. I'm not so sure I would say I love him because he is doing some questionable things with the casino. But strictly as a sports owner, he is incredible.

Bill Simmons got it started sometime last season or maybe earlier this year. I had never heard the Clips until he brought them up.

Purely from a Basketball perspective the Clippers have set up a nice little landing pad for someone this summer. Davis, Gordon, Outlaw, Kaman and Griffin is a pretty good core group for anyone to come into. But Mike Dunleavy is still the GM and Donald Sterling is still the owner and together they have submarined too many good, high potential teams in the past to think that they won't walk down that path again.

Absolutely disgusting trade... Jamison for Z and a 1st is AMAZING!

Chad Ford and Chris Sheridan would instantly dutch rudder each other if LeBron left Cleveland. It's all they talk about.

    Fact.

LeBron has an Owner willing to do EVERYTHING for him and money is not an issue. He's not going anywhere. Belidat.

Gilbert can build a casino in my backyard if he wants

Dan Gilbert is the best thing to come out of Detroit, Michigan. :D

Thank you Mr. Gilbert. Now if we could get that bozo Dolan to do the same I would be very happy.

Of all the places LeBron is rumored to possibly go, the Clippers make the least amount of sense and it isn't even close.

Not just Kobe's city but Kobe's arena.
  • krazie45
Kobe's City/Lakers City (No matter what LeBron does, there's too much history to change the balance of power)
    Kobe's Arena
One of the worst franchises in professional sports (much worse than even the pre-LeBron Cavs)
One of the worst owners in professional sports
One of the worst coaches in professional sports now the GM
A roster of overachievers and unproven young guys

There is absolutely 0 reason LeBron would want to play for the Clippers if he were a sane individual.

Almost forgot, but listening to Dan Gilberts interview about the trades really made me feel good as a Cavs fan..

Rizzo asked him about all the money he was pouring into the team.. Gilbert quickly answered "who cares, let's build a winner"...

Not only is this guy building a winner with the Cavs, but he is trying to build back the city of Cleveland. Not only the casinos, but by bringing thousands of people to the downtown area on a nightly basis to watch the Cavs, whether it be at bars or at the Q itself.. I know Dan Gilbert said one of his priorities was bringing a bunch of jobs to Cleveland and it looks like he is really trying to pursue that, to which I applaud him.. He's quickly changing the way people look at the city of Cleveland in general.

It's nice having a billionaire as an owner.. That's for damn sure.

I also heard he's trying to break Michigans steroid free bench press weight lifting record :)
