Major NFL rule change

Emmett BrownGoodell says NFL would consider ban on 3-point stance. This is a horrible idea. This would change the game forever.

buckeyes_wooweeI would personally be done with the NFL if this happens
-
FootwedgeApparently all the NFL retiress that have left the game with scrambled brains doesn't seem to bother you.

So you take away a 3 point stance? What the hell is this world coming to? Nobody is making these guys play the game, so don't give me the retiring with scrambled brains shitFootwedge wrote: Apparently all the NFL retiress that have left the game with scrambled brains doesn't seem to bother you. -

Also how many concussions happen at the LOS between two linemen? It seems most of the concussions come from hits to the head from a tackle. -
Drums of WarActually, we should just outlaw tackling all together since many concussions occur when the head strikes the ground. Maybe they could play on a field of mattersses, or a spring loaded floor like they use in pro wrestling?

End of LineHorrible move if this happens.
-
Emmett BrownLet them just play flag football that way all of the players will live to be 100 with no brain issues or leg issues.

And a long time ago..they said the same thing about having face masks. Nobody quit watching the game because players wore face fasks.buckeyes_woowee wrote:

In reality, it's the college players that get shafted. The NCAA, the coaches and the Universities make huge bucks off the carnage of the players. It's a scam that transcends every free market ideal out there.
As you say, the pros can choose not to play.
What you and your little butt buddies here on this thread need to do...is actually read a few reliable articles on the subject.
Rule changes are designed with safety in mind.
Oh BTW, I watched just as many NFL games this year as opposed to last year...inspite of the new helmet to helmet personal foul rule. I'm sure you did as well.
As for the grunts...i.e. the linemen...cry your story to the family of Mike Webster or Steve Courson...just to name 2.
Here is but one article.
"The injury rate for NFL players was nearly eight times higher than that of any other commercial sports league, including hockey and auto racing.1
Neither the NFL nor the NFLPA maintain data on the number or percentage of players who retire because of injury.2
Former players find access to health benefits very difficult.3
The current system is subject to a variety of conflicts of interest which appear to be detrimental to players -- Medical care provided by the team for its players raises serious conflict of interest concerns as a team physician must balance the players’ health concerns with those of the coaches and owners who expect players to play injured.4
The NFLPA has very limited authority and capabilities regarding health and safety issues, devoting only a part-time advisor to attend to these matters.5"

Why? Why would it be horrible? In fact....more and more pro teams went without a 3 point stance on defense this year.The_Crosby_Show wrote: Horrible move if this happens.
The rule change will not change the competitiveness on bit. Lighten up, Francis -
SykotykOne of the Browns' best defensive efforts this year was the second Steelers game and the Brownies went with a shifting all upright defensive setup.

tcarrier32i dont think this would be an intelligent decision. they should make a requirement on other pads. most nfl players wear next to nothing

Like I stated on the other thread on this topic, smashing your head against another person's probably has a cumulative effect on the brain more than there are single catastrophic injuries.Emmett Brown wrote:

The fact that pads have gotten smaller and smaller (to provide speed) leaves the head as the most protected weapon with which to hit someone.
I'm hoping we'll see some new technology as far as the helmet is concerned before we see the 3 pt stance outlawed. But I certainly won't stop watching the NFL if they decide that it's a necessary move in order to let the guys that abuse themselves for our entertainment enjoy normal lives w/ their families after the game is over.
i think you guys are somewhat overreacting. What the hell do I care what stance they are in???? It won't affect my outlook on football. It may require a period of adjustment, but i'm not going to never watch football again if it happens, and I doubt many others will stop it either.
