Today's athletes are just physically superior to most athletes from the past.Little Danny wrote: Writerbuckeye, you are not going people on here. These whippersnappers don't believe anyone who played prior to the 1990's could compete with players today. I recall being young once too but it always amazes me how the youth think they know better than people who saw great players of both eras play. -

That doesn't make them better or smarter at their profession.Trueblue23 wrote:

ytownfootballHell Lambier would have given him fits just by getting in his head.

Hb31187Nobodys saying theyre smarter....but how can you tell me a 6'9-6'10 220 pound center is gonna physically dominate a 7-1 320+pound player. common now....
-
77LegendThat quote from Shaq has to go down as one of the best off all times. LOL. His facial expression is the best part!
-
77LegendBasic physics will tell you no 220 lb Center would be able to hold up Shaq. Now again, they would probably beast him when they are on offense, but still.......
-
Hb31187For comparisons sake...Thatd be like saying Shaq in his prime couldnt back down a player like Kevin Durant...-10lbs. Lol now how stupid does that sound?

Please tell me your not comparing Bill Russell to Kevin Durant defensively???Hb31187 wrote: For comparisons sake...Thatd be like saying Shaq in his prime couldnt back down a player like Kevin Durant...-10lbs. Lol now how stupid does that sound? -
Hb31187Im comparing them size wise....It would be like a 10lb less Kevin Durant. He would get backed down and man handled no matter how gritty and tough you are...220 vs 320 is 220 vs 320 lol. Not to mention 7'1 vs 6'10

WriterbuckeyeYou give zero credit to how well Russell used his body and his freakish athletic ability to maneuver inside. He was an anomaly for the era -- as was Chamberlain.
Don't believe that physics was the only thing that would decide a winner here -- because you'd be wrong.
