NBA Midseason poll.. Who wins the Championship?

  • Trueblue23
So who is gonna take home the Larry O'Brien?

The Lakers have taken the trophy home more times than any other team in NBA history, hopefully they'll do it again.

    Sacramento kings

    no nets?

Don't the Celtics have 17 titles? That would make them the team with the most titles.

The Lakers have won the Larry O'Brien trophy 7 times, the Bulls have 6, the Spurs have 4, the Celtics have 2.

    Nice little technicality :)

    Lakers over Celtics in 6.

IMO though, whoever gets home court in the Finals will win it. The 2-3-2 format is retarded.

This poll equal fail without the Heat as least being mentioned!

I hope and believe Cleveland has what it takes to win it. I think Boston, Cleveland, and LA, all have a good chance. Boston not nearly as much as the other two. Obvious prediction, but how I see it.

Nets or Bucks....it's a toss up.

You lost the little credibility you had by not including the TWolves in your list.
  • Eric Taylor
If healthy, Boston will win it.

It will be another Celtics vs. Lakers matchup in the finals. I will take Boston in 7.

    Da Bulls!

May not be too far fetched. Have you seen what the Bulls have done over the past 4 games? Hottest team in the league right now.

What does Larry O'Brien have to do with anything? Champions are champions. That is why Boston is head and shoulders above any other NbA franchises...including the Lakers.

I remember back when the LA Lakers were going for their first title. With Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Gail Goodrich, Walt Hazzard and Wilt. Only to be beaten in game 7 at the Forum by the Celtics. I remember Red Aurback in the locker room after the game stating. "What are they gonna do with all the baloons hanging from the ceiling"? LMAO.

I still say it's a four team race as it's pretty much been all of this and last season. You've got the Cavs, Celtics and Magic in the East....along with the Lakers in the West. We'll see what happens, there's a lot that can happen between now and June (especially with trades and injuries)

    Celtics 17
    Lakers 15

2 more is "head and shoulders" above any team??

to a normal person no, but to footwedge yes

I have not been impressed with the Lakers this season. I really think the Nuggets could jump up and get them in the playoffs.

The Celtics are never healthy and are too old. If they do somehow get totally healthy in the playoffs they will be a tough out. Orlando isn't the team they were last year.

The Cavs have the experience, talent and depth to do it this year...as long as they stay healthy I think this is their year.

It was a joke man, chill.

The Larry O'Brien trophy replaced the Walter A. Brown Trophy as the official reward to the NBA Champions back in 1984.

When you also consider that the Celtics have only won 1 of those 17 in the last 23 years..........

    My sleeper team - Denver.
  • hoops23
As of right now, I'm picking the Cavs. I'm hopeful it comes true.

I just don't feel Boston or Orlando, and Atlanta can't beat us.

Obviously LA is an obstacle that we still have to get over, despite beating them twice this season..

    4. Hold the Balloons
    May 5, 1969 Game 7: Celtics 108, Lakers 106

Jack Kent Cooke was a visionary. The high-profile owner, who purchased the Lakers in 1965, immediately put his stamp on the team, whether it was changing the colors from blue and white to “Lakers blue” and gold to the ultra-modern, ahead-of-its-time arena, the Fabulous Forum. Cooke knew what he wanted, and in most cases often got it, except a championship against the dreaded Celtics.

Cooke was so confident that the Lakers would win Game 7 at home that he ordered thousands of balloons, which were suspended from the Forum’s rafters, and ready to be released when the Lakers won the title - or so Cooke thought.

“I’ll never forget it,” said Jerry West. “It was the most embarrassing thing I’d ever seen. All it did was hurt us.”

I wished it was 2-2-1-1-1 also, but I can understand why the NBA was "forced" to change it. It took out 1 more cross-country change of scenery.
