Because that "tool" deserves it.ytownfootball wrote: If the fans like a player they are puting asses in seats, all the more reason for a player with less cred to be endearing to the fans. What's the point of putting some tool with good numbers in the game that everyone hates? -
SQ_CraziesWithout the fans there is no All Star game. So, sorry, disagree with me all you want but I am right--doesn't mean you have to like it.

devil1197Without the players there is no All Star game.
It goes both ways. I guarantee there would still be an All Star game filled with fans if the voting was changed to limit their impacts on who gets in. Fans are still going to want to see star players together (LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Melo, Howard, Paul etc) along with the guys that deserve it but get left out due to guys like AI or TMac etc.
Unfortunately, there would be no all star game without the players. That is the real fact. -

Exactly why you have a bad rap around here.SQ_Crazies wrote: Without the fans there is no All Star game. So, sorry, disagree with me all you want but I am right--doesn't mean you have to like it.
Without the fans, there would be no NBA, so why not just let the fans decide which players play for each team?
I see your point SQ, I really do, but I'm sure David Lee or Chris Kaman would disagree, but what the hell do they know. -
ytownfootballThat tool does not deserve it. Not according to the NBA.
Why do you think players must wear coats and ties to games when they are not playing? Why was Areneas and Crittenden told to take a seat the rest of the season?
Because the league wants players to represent the league in a manner the league and THE FANS respect.
Tools need not apply. -

Terrible argument. Arenas and Crit were suspended because they are idiots, plain and simple.ytownfootball wrote: That tool does not deserve it. Not according to the NBA.

David Stern had no problem with making Arenas one of the faces of the NBA the past 5 years, but once he screwed up royally like he did, he had to deal with the consequences. -
ytownfootballtool=idiot
The league is a fan driven entity
No fans = no players
You have the omissions granted, especially on a 5 man team + reserves. If you have those incentives in your contract the you better find a way to get fan support whether it be by numbers or some other means. -
SQ_Crazies
LOL, no. Without the fans, the players wouldn't play in a meaningless game in the middle of the season. They'd take a break during that time and regroup. The All Star game only exists because of the fans, period.devil1197 wrote: Without the players there is no All Star game.

I have a bad rap because I'm right? It's a fucking game for the fans, that's easy to see. I doubt they would disagree, because every player always talks about how it's a game for the fans.Trueblue23 wrote:

devil1197So you are telling me that no fans would come to the All Star game to watch Kobe, LeBron, Melo etc. because the voting gets changed? Because guys like Lee make it over AI who doesn't deserve it? If the voting was changed, AI wouldn't be there which would bump Rondo/Rose into the starting spots and thus leaving open places for guys like Lee who deserve it.
Changing the voting won't deter anyone from coming to see the superstars that will already be there anyways. But it will give players who truly deserve the All Star spot a chance to play in the game. -
SQ_CraziesWonder why? Because they're putting on a show for the fans...because thats what the All Star game is. It is meaningless except for giving the fans a chance to watch all their favorite players on the court at the same time.
It's really a pretty simple concept, you're trying to make it into something it isn't. -
SQ_CraziesAnd NOW we're talking about reserves and someone cites Chris Kaman and David Lee. The reserves are voted on by the coaches, so I'm sure they don't know what the fuck they're talking about either huh?
-
devil1197
If guys like AI aren't voted into the All Star team then that pushes Rondo/Rose up into the starting spot. It will the coaches more room to add players who deserve to be there instead of guys like AI taking up room.SQ_Crazies wrote: And NOW we're talking about reserves and someone cites Chris Kaman and David Lee. 100% agree. Some people want to bash LeBron for not being in the SDC saying he owes to the fans but frown upon Iverson being in the ASG even though he was voted in by the NBA fans that LeBron owes something to. Nothing wrong with it. Leave it as it is.SQ_Crazies wrote: Totally wrong. The voting does not need to be changed. This is a game FOR THE FANS. The fans get to vote for who they want to see and they have spoken. I completely agree with you on your stance that Iverson doesn't deserve to be there from a statistics standpoint or whatever. But this game is for the fans and fans only--fans are the only reason they have meaningless All Star games. -
sleeperRose? Ugh, so overhyped.
-
KnightXC1To the original topic - the West reserves are better but then again, so are their starters. Gerald Wallace is a well deserved addition. I have been a fan of his for a few years now and it's nice to see him get some recognition.
As far as the game, the NBA All Star Game is the second worst All Star game of the 4 major sports (Pro Bowl being the worst). I don't have a problem with fans voting for starters but the process needs to be altered so that each fan can't vote up to 25 times. That is what allows people like Iverson to be in this game and hurts deserving players like David Lee or Chris Kaman. Fans should be able to have some input but not 100% say. Because every year we get stuck with players like Iverson or McGrady who have no business being there and only go for the pay check. Those guys don't care about the fans, especially Iverson. They just want a paycheck. The game is a big waste of time, as is the Pro Bowl which is why I don't watch either anymore. -
Pick6Its weird that the 2nd or 3rd team in the east (whatever the celtics are) have 3 all stars, yet the first place team only has 1.

Not saying that all the C's deserve it, BUT what other Cav does??Pick6 wrote: Its weird that the 2nd or 3rd team in the east (whatever the celtics are) have 3 all stars, yet the first place team only has 1. -

+1 on Deron Williams. Best PG in the NBA (imo, of course)HighRoller74 wrote: Glad Deron Williams finally got in.
Can't believe the Cavs only got one guy again. Just proves how good Lebron really is.
Who knows how Mo Williams injury played into this though.
I'm kind of glad Cleveland only got 1 in. Hopefully this motivates them even more by playing the disrespect card... Especially Mo. -
Hb31187Howd Josh Smith not make it over Horford?

Mo doesn't deserve a bid over Rondo or Rose. MAYBE and it's a pretty big maybe IMO, he could have got in over Rondo. But maybe the coaches were taking into him being injured right now.LTrain23 wrote:
