If Brett Favre Really Retires...

Strapping Young Ladand you were the Vikings, would you go balls out to get Kerry Collins, Donovan McNabb, or other FA, OR would you try to draft a QB to sit behind whatever currently signed incompetent gets the job???
personally, I say go with Collins or McNabb while this team is still prime and try to win now. In the MIN offense McNabb would be working under his former QB's amd OC Chilly, and running a more potent version the same offense he is now (being as he has more weapons around him).
Rumors are McNabb has run his course in Philly and both the Vikings and McNabb are about desperate for a ring.
I don't think Collins is great but he's alot like Favre in that he has a powerful arm and loves to turn the ball over. But compared to Brett, Kerry is a spring chicken. He's only 37 so he probably has two season's in him. He could be the game manager that everyone thought #4 was going to be. I think he'd be willing to do whatever to get that ring before his career expires....
Another option is Jason Campbell. The problem with him is he won't win right away, or maybe never, but he's young.
I say go for a deperate old man like McNabb or Collins and try to win now with this team and use the drafts, not on a QB but defense or o-line.
What say you??? -
charliehustle14I think they should go after whatever Philly QB they can get...McNabb, Kolb, or Vick. But I don't see Philly parting with Kolb and I don't think Vick would be a good fit with Childress...so I say McNabb.

NNNThe fact that the Eagles would seriously think of moving McNabb just proves that the team is run by idiots.

I agree to an extent, but the Eagles have to move on eventually to Kolb, who has shown a lot of promise.NNN wrote: The fact that the Eagles would seriously think of moving McNabb just proves that the team is run by idiots. -
thedynasty1998Mortensen said this morning that Jackson has really learned a lot this year under Favre and they are comfortable with him if Favre doesn't come back. I'm not saying he's the answer, but Mortensen doesn't seem to think the Vikings are going to look for other options.

3reppomI think the Vikings will roll with Jackson for at least one more season before deciding whether or not to pull the plug on him. They will probably go after a QB in either the first or second round as insurance.

Strapping Young LadDude Brad Childress is such a moron. I think that's pretty obvious by watching how he managed the game on the last drive in regulation. Twelve men in the huddle?!???!?
Back to the point. The Vikings don't have time, IMO, to just fuck around and let Tavaris Jackson have another season to try and prove himself. They need a good, not even great, experienced QB that knows what it takes to make a playoff run.
That's why Collins and McNabb come to mind. The Vikings can't afford to waste a year giving Tavaris Jackson a chance.
Football is so unpredictable. You don't know how good a star is going to be in 2011. What you do know is that this year you had what may have been the NFC's best team. You know your schedule is more difficult next year. You can't throw Tavaris Jackson into that fire and watse everyone's time.
This is a WIN NOW team and Childress needs to realize that his opportunity probably passed him by THIS YEAR but he still has that same team with again, a ? at QB. He needs to get someone in there who is proven and wants to make a SB run.....
