Super Bowl XLIV: Indianapolis Colts vs New Orleans Saints

  • Laley23
Warner and Favre are nothing like Manning. Maybe ONCE the rush get there they are similar. But Manning makes the adjustments pre-snap to avoid those things.

For the record, I was on the other huddle who said I thought the Giants would get 4+ sacks that game. I didnt think the O-line of the Pats was going to be able to stop the pass rush. I think the Vikings would be able to get to Manning a little bit. I dont think the Saints can get there without blitzing. Peyton eats blitzes alive. NOTHING throughout the last 3 years says he will be pressured consistently.

Warner and Favre don't make pre-snap reads to adjust to a blitz? BTW, I wouldn't say that Manning "eats blitzes alive". Yeah he's good but when he doesn't know where it's coming from, ala the Steelers, he's like any other QB. The Saints do alot of the same things, they don't neccesarily have to get sacks, just hits and hurries.

I started this thread because I had a question..

IF the Colts win this game, will Manning be able to claim the place as greatest QB of all-time?
As Manning's biggest fan on this site...no.

Certainly it would put him into the top five, but I think that in general, people are way too quick to want to believe they're witnessing the best ever and have no real perspective on who came before.
Thank you. Most people now days most don't know who Otto Graham, Bart Starr, Fran Tarkenton, Sammy Baugh, and George Blanda are. These guys in my mind are way better than Manning.

No, stop trying the "Saints will get to Manning" argument. Get a new one. Try using the bit about how the Saints offense is pretty good. That is a legit argument. The Jets have the best blitzing D in the NFL; it worked on Brady. It also worked for a few plays on Manning, then he figured it out, and "ate their blitzes alive." Colts have the best and most experienced o-line. There's a reason Manning is the least sacked QB, there isn't a blitz he and his line haven't seen.

So if you're going to argue against the Colts, at least pick the only chance they have, their offense. Keep Manning off the field, because when he is on the field, he controls the game. There isn't a defense in the NFL that he can't control, he's just too smart and too good.

Saints should have lost at home last week by 10-14 pts. Lucky for them they were playing the cursed.

Peyton and the Colts just cruised by the two toughest defenses in the league. If the Saints cheapshot Peyton in the SB, the refs will call it. That's seems to be their game so they could be giving up penalty yards.

    I'll take the Colts 27-21

I think the team that scores the most points will win.

    Go Teams!!

Steelers beat both of them and win one for the o-ring. Peyton Manning got drunk once in college, therefore he is a p.o.s.

Steelers wouldn't draft someone like that.

The only quarterbacks I'd put ahead of Manning at this point in time are Graham, Baugh, Luckman, Len Dawson, and Unitas.

Although I'm not going to get into the whole explanation:
Starr - tremendous playoff QB, average to below average in the regular season. When Lombardi went to Washington, he couldn't stop gushing about how an out-of-shape, past his prime Sonny Jurgensen was.

Tarkenton - had the numbers because he was told to pass the ball more than anyone else in the league over his career. Imagine a good quarterback today asked to pass as often as Drew Bledsoe was.

Blanda - horribly overrated, mostly on account of his kicking prowess. A starter for a very short period of time, and what were easily his best years came in two years (60 and 61) when the AFL was on par with the CFL. Once the depth of the league increased, he went back to normal. Also, it's worth noting that he threw 42 interceptions in a 14-game season that still saw Houston end up in the title game...which went to overtime...which they lost...mainly because he threw 5 more (47 in 15 games total).

Steelers drafted window-punching Santonio "Up In Smoke" Holmes in the first round.

And Manning was never drunk in college.

The last two Super Bowls have been classics.

Could we be in for a third straight epic game for the Lombardi Trophy? I'd love to see it happen.....but I'm not holding my breath. Based on the teams playing for it all....it definitely has the potential IMO.

I'd like to see a good game but I think it might be a surprise blowout like some of the 49ers games when they were just clicking.

Manning throws for about 5 TDs and the Colts pull away like 45-27.

A couple of my buddies are partaking in a drinking game during the Bowl. Every time they mention Katrina, show Kim Kardashian, or Eli Manning they are drinking lol.

If this game is a blow out then you can count me in the group who is surprised. I just don't see a blowout happening by either team.

If they had in Archie Manning, which will be talked about/shown more then Eli (and maybe who you meant to say) they will probably die.

what a terrible question by Shannon Sharpe

    to Archie Manning

"Have (Peyton and Eli) exceeded your expectations?"
  • september63
Listening to Shannon Sharpe speak is challenging.

Dont know if this is good or not. Bill Cowher just predicted the same score I posted an hour ago.

Cowher misses every pick practically lol

    Colts should be encouraged
