NBA Trade Deadline talk.

And Kobe doesn't win without another star or two around him. It is pretty much a given that one guy cannot carry a team for a championship, so I don't understand what everyone is getting at.
  • jpake1
You don't see it much anymore. Dwade arguably had no other star on the team when he lead his team. Shaq that year was NOT a star, maybe an all-star, but so are TMac and Iverson this year. Although that team had a lot of very solid vets at the time.

were u sitting at the cpu with ur garnett jersey and that celtics hat in the s&e library? lol u were weren tu
Yeah i was at the S&E Library today, Listen I don't take cheep shots at the Lakers. Just because I don't like them and not a Kobe fan doesn't mean I can't and don't give respect and credit where credit it is due to their organization. The Celtics, Lakers, Knicks, Sixers ... They are the NBA. I just find it funny that you can't see past your purple and gold glasses and really watch Basketball and not say every other player for every other team is garbage. And yes my had I got off of the team site the day after they won the Championship 2 seasons ago for $25. So I guess I'm dumb for believing in my favorite team when we've already beaten the Cavs once this year IN Cleveland!

    From Tim Donaghy's Book

    this was from page 82.
i knew from the get go that dallas didn't have a chance in the nba finals. people in the nba front office had no love for cuban and the majority of the nba referees had even less. in the 2006 nba finals the mavs won the first two games of the series against the miami heat at home. as the series began shifting back to miami the league office began flooding game 3 and game 4 referees with video plays from games 1 and 2 that the higher ups felt should of been called in favor of miami. the message was predictable and very clear: miami was going to have an advantage in its own building, thus prolonging the series and socking it to mark cuban. with millions of dollars of network revenue on the line, a sweep by the mavs was out of the question. in game 5, the referees handed miami a tremendous advantage by awarding the heat 49 free throws during the contest, compared to just 25 for dallas. in the nba, its tough enough for one teams five palyers to beat another teams five. but when its five against eight, and three of the eight are referees, forget about it-you've got no shot!

I'd hardly put any weight into the 1st game of the season when Cleveland was integrating an entirely new line up.

    Oh yeah, I misremembered.

I wasn't really trying to make it sound like a statement win, I mean it's a nice win to have, but Just pointing out that his Lakers have failed in both attempts vs. the Cavs is all

    WELL SAID!

Jordan didn't win without Pippen either. Or Paxson, Kerr, Grant, Rodman, Kukoc, Armstrong, and others. Everyone needs help.

actually all we need is a healthy kobe bryant.

just dont cry when we make our moves

WERE WINNING REGARDLESS WE JUST DO CHARITY WORK TO GET PPL RINGS--MUCH LIKE HOW WE RESCUED SHANNON BROWN AND ADAM MORRISON OUT OF THE NBA 3RD WORLD AND BROUGHT THEM TO PROSPERITY!!!!!!!!!!
Actually all the Lakers need is a healthy Shaq or Pau Gasol seeing as all a healthy Kobe Bryant can do is chuck his way out of the playoffs and throw his team under the bus.
  • Trueblue23
I think the Lakers should make a move, I'm just not sure what move.

Tim Donaghy.. you mean that ex NBA ref that went to prison because he proved to be a coward of a person? That same guy that has a book out hoping to make money off of it? I'll surely believe everything that he says. There wasn't a conspiracy, get over it. Many people didn't like how Miami got to the line so much. There is a reason Miami had so many more FT attempts. While Dirk was being slowed down by Haslem and the team was shooting jumpers, DWade was attacking the rim every single play. But sure the NBA tried giving it to the Heat. It had nothing to do with Dallas blowing a 13pt lead with 6mins to go in game 3 and Dirk missing a FT with a 3sec left that would have sent it into OT. It had nothing to do with Dallas scoring 7pts in the 4th in game 4. It had nothing to do with Dirk missing a FT with a second left that would have sent it into OT in game 5.

LTrain....I've seen other posters get at you, and now I see why. Hakeem, Horry (best clutch 3 pt shooter), Clyde the Glide Drexler, Sam Cassell, Maxwell and others. Just stop it. :)

lol, what other posters get at me?

Also, if you consider any of those guys Hakeem played with superstars, then god help you.

Granted, Clyde was a great player, but in '95 he wasn't his former self...

Also, try and get at me and I'll make you look like an idiot. :)

Did I say they were superstars? I said Jordan needed "Pippen". Who was a 2nd tier superstar back then. But the others I included with the Bulls were key role players. Make me look like an idiot.....on the internet? Lol. Ok. Yes, Hakeem was the superstar, but the others were key to their championships.

Since when is a top 50 player considered a second tier superstar?

    ^Haha, no shit.

This argument is so stupid, no one has ever won a ring by themselves. Which is why I always say that rings are a stupid argument when you're comparing individuals in a team game.
